Rowardennan NTS backpackers camping area

The East Loch Lomond Camping Byelaws have been introduced to help tackle problems of mis-use and overuse. The loch shore has been suffering for many years and the National Park Authority has introduced byelaws to help get the area back to being a place that both locals and visitors can enjoy. As this area now falls within the East Loch Lomond Camping Byelaws camping is no longer permitted in the area between the period from the 1st March to the 31st October. During these periods please consider the use of the official sites Cashel, Millarrochy Bay and Sallochy all located south of this camping area. If using the site out of the byelaw periods the following information applies. Small camping area just north of Rowardennan Youth Hostel on the West Highland Way. Grid ref NS 359 997. The site is in mixed woodland with a small burn running through. Close to the lochs water edge. THERE ARE NO FACILITIES. The site was provided with kind permission from the National Trust for Scotland and available to backpackers for one night piches only. Camp fires are prohibited. Please be aware that due to new camping byelaws on East Loch Lomond it is now illegal to camp at this location between March and October and that doing so carries a £500 on the spot fine No camping between 9.30am and 6pm with site to be vacated by 10am.
