Last stayed here about 30 years ago in a tent in a howling gale. The facilities have improved greatly since, especially for camper vans/caravans as there are lots of levelled hard standing with hook up. The grassy areas are plentiful but generally still a bit slopey for tents. Facilities are good with lots of showers, laundry and dishwashing. It's an easy cycle to Portree where there are lots of shops and pubs.

Lovely place to stay near Portree. Campsite is a bit steep so check for an even place early. The facilities are clean and the staff is very friendly.

Only a 5 minute cycle into Portree town (15 minute Show more

Only a 5 minute cycle into Portree town (15 minute walk) so shops are very close. It's on the Staffin road towards Storr and Staffin, so if you're wanting somewhere central for facilities and the outdoor stuff, this is a great base. We were two cyclists with a small backpacker tent and managed to find a lovely fairly flat pitch, but the majority of the site is sloping. Mostly tents when we were there, but a lot of huge ones (so be prepared for sink queues at tea time). Facilities were great and very clean. Owner was very welcoming and informative (even took our iPod HOME with him to charge that night as he didn't have the USB port in the office). Only stayed for one night but I would return in future and use it as a base for further exploration. I think it was £7 pppn which we felt rather steep considering what we had paid elsewhere but I guess this takes into account the facilities, cleanliness and location.
