Recently awarded the camping and caravanning club best UK certificated site for 2008, the site is for adults only and is the ideal place for a quiet break. If you want to fish, cycle, ramble, bird watch, and sight see or just chill out our site has it all. The site was newly opened in June 2007 and sits with a river on one side, lawns and an orchard on the other and overlooks our lake and woods. The harbour village of Garlieston is just outside our gates. All our motorhome and caravan pitches are on all year round hard standings and all have 16 amp hook ups. Chemical disposal is available onsite. Some tent pitches are available with hook up. Within 100 yards you can access the local pub which does food, a Post Office with ATM, shops, a cafe and leisure facilities. There is also trout fishing available onsite.
Total pitches: 5 tent and 5 van
Pub Within 100 yards
Open All Year round

This is our haven for peace and relaxation! The site is beautifully maintained by Rusty. The shower, toilets, vegetable prep/washing up area is immaculate. The hard standings are level and clean with views of the trout lake. Fishing is available from this very picturesque site. There are deer grazing in the field next door and very varied bird life. The location is excellent - village Post Office, Shop and Pub are just two minutes walk away if you don't want to move off the site- or, alternatively, Newton Stewart (approx 14 miles) has Sainsburys, Aldi and The Co-Op. Free range pork and free range eggs are available and a 'wet fish' van calls on the site on Tuesdays. What more could you want! My husband had toothache so Rusty even arranged for him to see his dentist in Stanraer the next day!! We took our pup with us and she had a great time with Rusty's and Alma's dogs. Rusty, you are a gem- thank you for a wonderful holiday. Say 'hello' to Alma for us - we can't wait to come back again, see you soon. X

Amazing! Is the only superlative that springs to mind. Owner Rusty is a top bloke who is very approachable and informative. Lovely level pitches with EHU. Toilet and shower 1st class and has an ingenious red-light system- when you enter either the loo or shower and switch on the light a red light activates on the outside of the block, so other campers can see that the facilities are in use, therefore no standing and queuing. Hens on site so lovely fresh eggs for sale, & also pigs so you can either go and have a chat with the piggies and piglets, or purchase pork steaks etc. Just a short stroll into a lovely harbour village. It's history includes the building of the Mulberry 'floating' Harbours that were used in the D-Day landings. The very small shop/post office has access to an ATM and stays open until 8pm on Lottery draw days. The Harbour Inn is very much a local and very atmospheric, no children but allows dogs and their owners into the bar, and you very often find Rusty and his dogs enjoying a pint or 2. Amazing!

The most peaceful, friendly site we have been to. So nice we are returning yet again to see Rusty and Christine. If you want a warm welcome, lovely scenery, good pub and food its the place to visit. The pork is scrumptious and you cant get fresher eggs unless you keep your own chickens. Booked for another break in December and Easter and Summer 2010. Each time we visit we make new friends.might be a 4 hour drive for us but worth every mile of it,try it yourselves you will not be disappointed.

5 stars isn't enough for this site!! The loveliest, most peacefull site we have ever been too. No children either, yaaay!! just peace, quiet and tranquility and an abundance of wildlife. Rusty (the owner) also let Karen feed his prize pigs. But you can also eat, said pork, if you prefer!! Will be back here at the first opportunity, our new number one site by a mile!!

What can you ask for? This site is a hidden gem! Clean shower and toilet spotless all the time .Very welcoming and the pub round the corner, 3 minute walk ! food first class. Very good prices. Rusty and his good lady met us at the reception and took us to our pitches. He has built the shower / toilet building himself. He never stops working on the site. Feeding tne chucks, collecting newly laid eggs for anyone who wants 6 for a quid ! We had one every day still warm !Lovely walks, the place is full of wildlife eg; red deer, hare, herons, red robin, etc There is two shops close to site, one is a post office and they sell lots of provisions. The only moan the ladies had was that there wasn't any clothes shops that they liked for 60 miles. The nearest supermarket is 26 miles in stranraer. We could not fault this site, rusty has even put a couple of lights on the outside of the toilet / shower room so you can see if either one is being used! I thought that was a good idea. This site is well a visit for you walkers who enjoy total peace and quiet.
