Lovely flat well kept green grassy area for campers. Great for kids playing on. Choice of flat hardstanding at one side near the grassy area and the other hard standing overlooking the water and the marina for caravans and motorhomes. Crabs, lobsters and scallops landed at the local pier daily. We opened our new home from home amenity building in May 2009. Toilets, showers, laundry, kitchen facilities, microwave, kettle, fridge, dishes, table and chairs inside and out on the verandah, you can watch seals play and birds from the kitchen window. Picnic tables, and nature hyde for watching birds, seals and otters. Chemical disposal point. Beautiful walks , birds, wild flowers around the nearby cliffs at Westerwick ,Silwick and Culswick broch . Shops nearby at Bixter, Aith and Walls. Leisure Centre at Aith. Skeld Caravan and Camping Site
This is a lovely place - but don't expect it to be empty. It is as described before - part of a new waterfront development - and is popular with Shetlanders as well as visitors. When I was there, a weekend in August, it was full of caravans, with lots of children, who used the tent field as a football pitch until midnight. Having said that they were all really nice people, it had a lovely atmosphere, and the warden was immensely helpful to an ailing camper. Would I go again - definitely, but possibly not if I wanted a complete rest!

Excellent! The site is flat, well drained, with good holding for tent pegs. The new amenities are well designed, clean and attractive with lovely views across the voe. All the people we met were very friendly and helpful. Other facilities include a wildlife hide and a few yacht moorings. A real credit to Josephine and her helpers. A limited selection of food and WiFi connection is available at the cheese factory nearby.

This year for the first time we were at Shetland for some 2 weeks in June with our caravan and were lucky to find this perfect campsite. A very good, clean and perfect maintained site with not too big but great facilities. A very warm welcome by Josephine (and Jim). Also a great place to use as a base camp for visiting Mainland and the other Isles. If you like a good fresh lobster or crab I`m sure you'll find it in the marina. My wife and I have been camping all over Europe but this is one of the best places we were. If you like a quiet place, love nature, want to meet the locals and like travelling this is the place to be.

I stayed here in January in a tent the weather was great once night it was 8c in the tent at night warm for winter. The site is well sheltered from the wind. I was at the campsite for 5 days. There is a very clean kitchen with microwave, kettle, fridge, heater, lights, tourist info, cups, plates. Plugs where you can charge your phone or mp3. There is no cooker and no toster. The people who run the campsite are very helpful and friendly. There is no shop in the area the nearest shop is 10 miles away but there is 2 buses aday in the winter from here. Even so it very easy to hitchhike a lift into town from here even with not much cars on the road in the winter. There are 3 toliets, Showers that is £1 for 11 mintues. There was no WIFI hotspot or computer for internet use. Also in the campsite there is no mobile signal for any of the networks but a walk up the hill in Skeld and you can pick up signal on most the networks fine, This maybe a blessing for some people ok if you dont need to be in 24 hour contact. Loved my stay here probley one the best campsites of stayed at i visit again on my next visit. It is £6 + £2 per adult for camping.

This gem of a campsite fully justifies a five star rating and deserves to be better known. The facilities are excellent including showers, laundry and kitchen facilities all of which are scrupulously clean and maintained by dedicated friendly local volunteer. The site is perfectly situauted by the sea, adjacent to a small marina and even includes a hyde equipped with binoculars and reference material and from which sea otters can be spotted. If your going to Shetland, make a point of visiting this well run campsite.

We stayed here for one night in May 2010 and it was fantastic. The facilities (toilets, showers, washing up, microwave etc.) and excellent and immaculately clean - as are the public facilities as well to be honest. There is a hide on site where you can watch the seals, birds and otters if you are very lucky. The local community is rightly very proud of what they have achieved and they provide a very warm welcome.

Stayed here for two nights in June 2010. Good level hardstandings with electric hookups for £12 per night. Beautiful location, Showers, toilets, washing & drying machines were new (showers, washing machine & tumble dryer were coin in slot) and kept in spotless condition. There are full kitchen facilities, kettle, microwave, fridge etc. and even a dining area with table&chairs for anyone who wishes to use them. It is a community owned site and the lady in charge could not have been more friendly or helpful. Didn't have any kids with us so can't give a fair comment Definitely worth a visit.

An excellant site, stunning views and perfect location for exploring the Shetland Islands. The camp site hosts Jim and Josephone go over and above normal standards with help with sightseeing info, shopping tips and the best place to get Shetland lamb and organic salmon. The site is new and fresh- a wonderful place to relax and just enjoy.

Stayed for nearly a week in November 2008, it snowed, blew several gales (quite good protection from westerlies) was bitterly cold but was a wonderful place to stay. Wardens are just fantastic people, couldn't do enough for me, and detailed local knowledge for walking, views and the best place to shop etc. Some redevelopment of rather basic shower (in Da Sail Laft) due in early 2009. Think Post Code may be wrong because it was a long way out on my Sat Nav. A really great, flat, well surfaced site right next to the marina and voe. Will stay again.

very picturesque and charming campsite, with flat grass for tents and plenty of hardstanding for caravans and campers. Sited in harbour and marina, facilities at present limited (key for showers in boat club) but adequate, but I believe there are plans for a purpose built block to be constructed. Very friendly locals run the site, and there is a nature watching hide overlooking the water nearby.
