This link in a frame Category: Isle of Bute and the Cowal Peninsula MEMBERS ONLY ON THIS SITE. The Forestry Commission's first Forest Park , Argyll Forest Park, surrounds this Club Site. The Visitor Centre introduces the area. Several beautiful walks lead away from the Club Site. Inverary has a fairytale castle which hosts a Highland Games in July. Auchindrain Township Open Air Museum gives a glimpse of Highland life in Victorian times. Anglers can catch sea-trout and mackerel from Loch Long. The area is a paradise for serious walkers. The Arrochar Alps include several peaks. The Cobbler, or Ben Arthur, is one of Scotland' most spectacular with an unusual skyline and fabulous views. Grid Ref NN 270 025

Ardgarten C and Caravanning Club Site MEMBERS ONLY Arrived on the Friday 17th June For the weekend . Had a great time , Staff were very helpful in ever way . I found the site great . Loved being by the loch , looking over the water . takes the stress out of life .A very clean site. Toilets and showers clean . The wee shop had a lot in it for its size . Loved all the wood carvings . Ardgarten C and Caravanning Club Site MEMBERS ONLY My partner and I have just returned from a weekend on this site and I have to say that the wardens 'Christine and Mike' could not have been friendlier or more helpful, the site in itself reminded me of camping when I was young, it is very basic, but we had the best weekend ever. We hired rods from the office for five pounds for 24 hours and fished (for the first time) off the beach, we loved it!! This is a small, quiet and extremely friendly site, no-one walks past you without saying hello and everyone we spoke to had returned for lengthy stays after falling in love with the place. We had a mixture of rain and sun while there, both showing different views of the loch and the forrest, we were cosy in our tent with the door open, watching the weather tumble down the valley - it was breathtaking and the next day we woke up to beautiful sunshine and spent the day on the beach. We loved it so much we will be returning with the children this weekend and are now considering taking our summer holiday in Scotland instead of going abroad!! I can honestly say you will not be dissapointed with this site, it is friendly with beautiful scenery, yes its amenities are basic but everything else make it outstanding!! Ardgarten C and Caravanning Club Site MEMBERS ONLY The facilities are extrememely poor 1 shower for males and 1 for females, given there are 55 pitches the chances of getting a shower are very poor unless you are prepared to get up at 6am, the toilet block has a corrigated roof which results in midgy bites on yer bum, that along with the fact you have to park your car away from your pitch and have to carry yer gear, I found camping on this site a nightmare, I recomend you book forest holidays site next door which is 5 star all the way Type of accommodation: Tent Comment by Chris Hilton from Midlands UK Date: 10/07/2008 Was this review helpful for you? 4 of 10 found this review to be helpful. Ardgarten C and Caravanning Club Site MEMBERS ONLY Utterly fantastic location right beside the loch. A quiet and well-maintained site, with Loch Long on one side and forest and woodland on the others. There are a few hard standing pitches but if you?ve not pre-booked one and are in a campervan you?ll probably require ramps. We made use of the extra-lift ramps ( we were on a very steep part of the site) kindly supplied by the site wardens on our first visit and after having to be towed out, due to very heavy rain, booked a level(ish) pitch next time we stayed there. Lots of walks and bike rides in the close vicinity. Fishing and bird watching from the shore. Loos/showers are a bit below the usual C&CC standard and almost verging on inadequate for the number of pitches. Having said that; this is a site we?ll revisit soon and often as the superb location outweighs any minor niggles we might have. Fresh fish are often available from the site office though this depends on if any campers have caught any!
