My wife and I discovered this hideaway paradise on a visit to Lewis some years ago whist attending a wedding in Stornoway. Among our party were aGerman family who like us were stunned at the simple natural beauty. As we have family on the island we take great pride in showing everyone who travels with us this white sanded northern hemisphere heaven. If the weather is not that great then wait a bit and you will be rewarded with spectacular scenery eventually. I am only gratefull that Fletcher Christian didn't discover it first

We stayed here back in April/May 2008. Basic faclilities only toilets and fresh water tap. We did not need any other facilities as we had all ours on board our Motorcaravan. Absolutely stunning location, very peaceful. Gentleman who you pay for your camping fees is extremely nice and friendly. Beach is huge, you will love it if you like peace and tranquility. Maybe a bit too remote and lacking in facilities for some people but if you love solitude then this is the place.

This is a hidden gem on Lewis. It's a bit of a trek along the winding single track roads, but taking it easy will allow you to take in some of the breathtaking views and scenery on route. Facilities not fantastic but clean and the scenery around and about is to die for and more than makes this area worth a visit for a couple of days. There is a small hilltop restaurant about 1.5 miles away called Bonaventura (on an old RAF base) sells local seafood and produce and for around £30 per head for 3 courses. Food was out of this world. Nearby you have the beach with white sands and clear water, on a hot day you could imagine you're on a remote desert island, the beach has dunes and is surrounded by mountains and hills which often lends itself to some dramatic weather features. Wildlife will sometimes let their curiosity bring them closer to you than you expect. Altogether awe inspiring area that you will never forget. I'll add some photo's of my visit to the beach so you can see for yourself, the photo's were taken between 10pm and 11.30pm.

Stayed here 2 nights in July 06 with our camper van and it cost ?2.00 per adult payable at the house before you drive to the beach. The public toilets and water pipe are fine for rough camping (clean). We drove down and parked right on the dunes looking over the sands where the Lewis Chessmen were found - fab location!
