Situated at the foot of the spectacular mountains, the Five Sisters of Kintail, Shiel Bridge caf?, shop and campsite, is often people's first stop in Lochalsh. The campsite is believed to have undergone an upgrade to enhance the quality of the services on offer in 2004.

Our view: Stayed in 2002 and found the facilities very basic with porta-showers. Review this site if you know of any update.

Out of the gate and into the hills
Didn't look much from the road, but when you get onto the site you feel right in the middle of the mountains - because you are. Toilet and shower block could probably do with an upgrade - there once was a washing machine but there isn't now, and the showers were a bit feeble - but you have the shop at hand and the cafe if it's foul weather, and all you have to do is go through the gate at the top of the site and straight up into the hills. Level pitches, mostly hard standing with hookups but with plenty of space for tents. All in all a good site for a few days in a really beautiful area, with fewer people and vans than the site in Morvich.

This is my third visit to this site (1971, 2004, 2010), so that must say something. Although I have only given 3 stars for onsite facitlities, most folk (me included) do not actually want loads of facilities. Likewise I only gave 2 stars for kids, but folk who come here (like me) don't come for family holidays. Over the years I have seen this site change from a wet field and just loos, to its present state with a smaller tent area and more stands for camper vans. In my opinion there are rather too many stands for camper vans and not enough space for tents. It would be helpful for the tent campers if, maybe a couple of the hard stands could be reinstated for tents. This would not cost the owner much if it is just a couple of the non-power hard stands that get reverted to tent camping. I hope the owner will not think ill of me for suggesting such a thing.

Ended up staying here for 3 nights instead of 1 as it is a lovely site. Great walks nearby and our jack russell toby fell in love with the site owners dog Tallulah! Facilities always clean, the site has everything you need on your door step. Will def be back.

pitched in the dark with a million midgies attacking us, arrived late and paid next day with no probs. small but adequate shower block for the size of the site. very good location for kintail hills. no kiddie facilites but then i dont see why there should be as camping is an adventure in itself.

Ideal for short stays. Basic facilities but if you are just looking for drinking water and hot showers then ideal. Perfect for Hillwalkers as located close to Five Sisters and only a short drive back to Cluanie Inn to tackle South Glen Shiel Ridge. Flat area for tents and electric for campervans etc. As earlier reviews, if you're looking for luxury then perhaps this is not for you. Only grumble I have is the bin was overflowing and toilet block was perhaps due a clean. Only stayed 1 night so can't comment further. We arrived late, pitched in dark and paid following morning without any problems.

we've just come back from 7 nights at this campsite and had a great time. The location is amazing - right at the base of the 5 sisters so views are great.Brilliant for touring around - we went to Glen Affric / Skye / Applecross all as easy day trips. Facilities are basic but at ?4.75 a night then I wouldn't want the Hilton. Hot showers - all working and with locking doors. No laundry facilities but remember the price. You have a sink with hot water to wash your clothes in anyway. The shop may be expensive but unless you want to drive right upto Kyle then every local shop in the area is pricey and its got everything you may possibly need in it. (including a supply of Avon Skin so Soft for the midges). Would definately go back and recommedn for the price and location. If you want luxury facilites then don't go here and then complain about it - you should go further up the road and pay more than twice the price for the caravan club site. (which we drove past and it was water logged)!!! Lynne, Ian and the 3 happy collies p.s. great for dogs as you had the walk up the valley straight from the campsite.
