Category: Orkney The campsite is situated on the shoreline overlooking Stromness, one mile west of the pierhead and ferry. The site provides dramatic views over towards the hills of Hoy. Located in a quiet location with a shoreline walk from the site.

Point of Ness Caravan and Camping Site The site wasn't as good this year as in previous years. Our high rating for kid's facilities might surprise some, but for us the space to fly a kite and the chance to explore the shoreline and fish for crabs was as good as ever and we like the sites without 'play areas'. The slightly disorganised approach this year had turned into total lack of management and that was disappointing. The appearance of the warden on a more regular basis to help folk find spaces etc would be good. Point of Ness Caravan and Camping Site Wonderful setting.Stayed for three weeks in May 08 which coincided with the driest May on record. There is a new warden who is friendly and helpful. When the site is busy (as during the folk festival week) the toilet/shower facilites are overwhelmed and could do with some extra cleaning and I have written to Orkney Council suggesting this improvement.These facilities are also open to the general public so do have a lot of use. Point of Ness Caravan and Camping Site (Stromness) This was our first visit to Point of Ness Caravan Park. The view of the site from the Hamnavoe Ferry was brilliant couldn't wait to get there. Mrs Grey the warden was excellent, very efficient, helpful and informative. Our visit to Orkney was made all the better by our site location. Point of Ness Caravan and Camping Site (Stromness) Visited June 2007 - agree with all previous comments. Very peacefull relaxing setting with great views. Just make sure you approach the site by the top road and not through the narrow twisty streets from the quayside which can be a nightmare during busy periods. Point of Ness Caravan and Camping Site (Stromness) Lovely site, well managed by the friendliest and most helpful warden. Stayed there 2006 and can't wait to get back in 2007! Stromness is just a short walk away and the site is well placed for touring the island. Children's entertainment is of the beach-combing, seal and ferry watching type, thankfully no play area. Point of Ness Caravan and Camping Site (Stromness) We stayed here in the Summer of 2005 during Shopping Week Festival. Warden was very friendly and helpful. Can't rate facilities for kids as we don't have any but close beaches and the kids on site seemed happy enough. Right on waters edge. Great views across to Hoy and the best place in Stromness to watch the fireworks across the harbour at the finale of Shopping Week from the comfort of the van on a not too pleasant evening - glass of wine in hand. Showers sheer luxury. Facilites only marked down because just one sink for dish washing and this is difficult at busy times. Indoor lounge for campers. Handy for walking into Stomness (5 min walk).
