Our view: Stayed on this site a few years ago. Great location looking out over the Loch to Ben Lomond. Hotel next door does great meals but is pricey. If on a budget try the milkbar in the village for traditional fare. Worth the stop and better than many on this si

Luss Caravan and Camping Club Site
The site is handy as a stopover when travelling north or south. It's great for watersports and views of Loch Lomond. The downside is that it is noisy 24/7 with the busy A82 running alongside it. The site is open to non-members of CCC, despite the unwelcoming signs; you just pay a bit more per night. It would have been about £16 as members, we paid £24 a night which we thought was over-priced after the other Scottish sites we had visited. Be sure to ask for the over-60's discount if applicable as it was not volunteered to us. The site has ample, clean washing facilities, although we didn't see any evidence of a shop or a room for campers (which other reviews mentioned). The site WiFi didn't extend as far as our tent. The site didn't appeal to us because it was so large and hardly anyone even made eye-contact. Our pitch was poorly drained and after a few hours the tent entrance was pretty muddy. We noticed other places where tyres had sunk in as the site had insufficient space to have cars parking on hard-standing. Since Scotland is known for its rainfall, I'm surprised the CCC haven't taken this issue more seriously, because it must be making life more difficult for the very busy and hard-working staff.

Arrived without booking & not a member but staff happy to offer pitch. Did tell us to keep car off grass due to heavy rain but we seemed to be the only ones! A discount was offered for parking in carpark which I happily obliged. Pitch would have £24 for the night for 2-man tent. Campsite lovely & quiet with relaxed atmosphere where you could spend all day sitting on beach gazing onto the loch. Luss on your doorstep but was reluctant to venture far due to the stunning views.Had a small shop selling handy individual items, teabags, etc rather than trying to sell you a whole pack. Magazine for adults & kids available for taking a loan. Toilets were spotless. There was a couple of swings & chute for the kids but didn't appear to be a lot of children around. A very enjoyable stay & would definetly return.

Excellent caravan site with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Clean toilet blocks. Most pitches have a view of the loch. Best restaurant is The Village Rest, just 10mins walk into Luss - highly recommended! We'll be back!

We only live 25 miles away from this site and we headed up on the spur of the moment for a night. The staff were very friendly, toilets and shower facilities are spotless and the one of the best we've encountered camping in Scotland. The site is located right on the shore of Loch Lomond and is only a mile's walk from Balmaha which has an excellent restaurant, The Oak Tree Inn. There is a small play area for kids and a backpackers hut separate to the main block which is reserved for campers. We had a tent pitch with electric hookup and although we are not members we were not treated any different. We'll definitley be back.....

Clean tidy site with spotless loos and showers. Many tent pitches just 12 feet from loch edge so location great. Maybe add to kids play area of just 2 swings and a slide, but overall spacious and plenty trees breaking up site with interest of hills behind and loch to front. Tent owners do NOT need be members to pitch here.

We spent two nights at this wonderful location - it was the start of our 'Grand Tour' of Scotland! We were booked in quickly by very friendly staff The position of the site is just perfect - we camped very near the loch - which had a safe little 'beach' for our children to play on without the fear of falling into deep water... The loos were always clean, as were the showers (I'm fussy about loos! LOL!) This was the most expensive of the sites that we stayed on...but this was the only CCC site we stayed on.....

Folk running the site are really nice and helpful, they have details of local things to do/places to eat etc so you know your way about a bit. There are a few wee playpark bits for kids. The scenery was amazing, about 20 feet from our tent was the Loch!! I've stayed in cheaper campsites with the same standards, so I thought this was a bit steep, but its where it is that bumps up the price - but we were there for only 1 night, so we didn't mind. And there is a great wee pub round the corner!! Highly recommended.

What a site! We camped right on the edge of the loch with a wonderful view out of our tent across the water. The campsite also has what is practically a private beach where you can watch bats soaring around after midges in the dark. It is handy being close to Luss, where you can get most essentials, but I wouldn't recommend the neighbouring hotel, incredibly posh and expensive, though the one at the other end of the town is much nicer. There is also a fine walk up the river valley with cracking views.

Just back from weekend at Luss. Campsite located on the shore of Loch Lomond. Stunning views! 6 year old son had great fun at the water, chasing rabbits and a small play park kept him entertained. Toilets, dishwashing and laundry areas all absolutley imaculate! Went on a speed boat trip from the pier at the village. Other boat trips available. Would highly recommend!

This may be too old a review to print, but here goes. We stayed on this site in July 2004, and the only real downside was the MIDGES! If we go again we`ll go outside midge season, because it is a beautiful site in a beautiful location. When we arrived, the warden told us we`d been given the best pitch on the site. We thought he was spinning us a yarn till we got to our pitch, then WOW! The view was amazing. Although there aren`t really facilities for children, all the children we saw were having a whale of a time, swimming, boating, playing on the tree trunk lying at the edge of the water.... I`ve seen better toilets and showers, but I`ve also seen worse. They were adequate, and kept quite clean, but being under the trees made for a lot of midges and other insects in there. What we did enjoy one rainy afternoonwas watching a pair of swans with 5 half grown youngsters coming up onto the beach in front of us, then realising they were heading for our van! We quickly got out our bread and olur camera and camcorder and we got some lovely film, and nearly lost a few fingers! I`ve never been so close to swans before. The village of Luss is very nice, but a bit over-run with tourists. The car park is very good, and the shop does a good line in take-away meals. Balloch we found a bit boring, and although Loch Lomond Shores is good for shopping and meals out, it is a bit of a blot on a beautiful landscape. We`d like to go here again if we could guarantee the same pitch and go outside midge season. P.S. We arrived with a broken jockey wheel, and the warden was good enough to order us one from the Towsure book, have it delivered to the site, then brought it to us in his little truck.

This site is set right on the shore of Loch Lomond and has some beautiful scenery. The facilities are very clean, well maintained and showers are very powerful. Because of the landscaping of the site some of the areas of grass don't dry out. We found this attracts thousands of midges and all attempts to get rid of them failed. The site is also very close to the A82 which is very busy and noisy. We found the staff to be adept at their jobs but unfortunately they weren't always people friendly and this marred the experience slightly.

We stayed at the site with our 3 kids, aged 15, 12 and 2. The toilet/dishwashing/shower facilities were absolutely immaculate. The site was spotless and the other campers/caravaners/staff were all really freindly and helpful. We will be returning next week for a weekend!

Not Children Friendly
Stayed on this site last year, it was immaculate, clean and the views are stunning. Although, it is not child friendly. They were constantly getting into trouble for next to nothing, one occasion they were talking too loudly! I will not be back with my children.
