Castle Bay Caravan Park
We had a brilliant stay in our tent here. The location of the site is great and our kids loved the open space to run around in. The field for the tent is right at the end of the campsite so you feel quite private from all the statics and the view down to the sea and over to Dunskey Castle is fantastice. The toilet block is very clean and cosy and we had plenty of hot water. The staff were very welcoming and helpful with advice on local places to visit. The walk along to Portpatrick is lovely - there are a number of shops to browse in and the small beach is reasonably clean. The pubs are friendly and serve good food. We would definitely return for another visit.

just back from a one night stay at castle bay and we can't fault it.The location was great and the kids loved the freedom of exploring the coast (ages 11 and15) though you would have to be careful with young children as the cliff s were very high. We enjoyed the short walk into portpatrick where you could have a nice meal or drink and the boys enjoyed the amusements and the small beach . The boys are already asking when we are going back and I think it will be soon if the weathers good.

Mainly statics but don't let it put you off. The camping field is tucked over at the front of the site near to the sea with truly fantastic views over to Ireland. It was windy when we were there and despite it being Easter weekend we had the field virtually to ourselves. Great coastal walks around and a 15 minute coast path walk into Portpatrick, with its lovely harbour and great pubs. Facilities are the cleanest I have ever seen with loads of hot water. Lots of friendly people around, dogs allowed and camp shop also. Dunskey Castle is very atmospheric and right next to teh camping field. We thought the whole thing was great! Don't miss the Mull of Galloway, with RSPB reserve, lighthouse and coffee house with views over to the Isle of Man. Gorgeous peninsula and worth the long drive.

We have just returned from our second stay at Castle Bay Caravan Park, and plan to return again soon. The site is beautiful, from our tent pitch we had stunning views over the sea to Ireland and of the imposing Dunskey Castle. The staff are very friendly and the camp shop is well stocked and has great opening hours. Best of all it is excellent value for money. We can't recommend it enough!

Just spent the weekend here. Stunning location. Pitched tent with a view of the Dunskey castle only a few hundred yards away. Although the facilities are basic they are kept clean. Toilet block, kids play area, disposal point, shop and small amusement room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Large area for tents and tourers with some electric hook ups. Not all on the level. Pub on adjacent camp site open to non residents. Walk (less than a mile) along the coastal path to Portpatrick with beautiful views. Portpatrick has several pubs/hotels, great food, live music at the weekend some of which is noisy, some more folky, shops, restaurant, lovely harbour. Lots of walking, boating and fishing. Southern Upland Way starts here. Local attractions include Mull of Galloway lighthouse/visitor centre, various gardens. Port Logan, where they filmed 2000 acres of sky. They also used Portpatrick and Dunskey Castle....this whole area is one of Scotlands best kept secrets....... Plan to return to this site.....had a great weekend
