FIRST TIME CAMPERS MY HUSBAND, SON & I WERE. COBLELAND WAS RECOMMENDED TO US SO WE BOOKED FOR 3 DAYS. WE REALLY ENJOYED OURSELVES & WOULD CERTAINLY COME AGAIN. IT WAS RAINING ALL DAY ON THE SATURDAY SO WE TRAVELLED TO BLAIR DRUMMOND SAFARI PARK, WHICH WASN'T TOO FAR AND IT WAS GREAT FUN. IN GARTMORE IS THE BLACK BULL HOTEL, IT'S FAB. THE OWNER RUNS A MINI BUS WHICH WILL PICK YOU UP FROM THE SITE, TAKE YOU TO THE HOTEL AND DROP YOU HOME AGAIN, FOR FREE!!!!! FANTASTIC!!!!!!

I been coming here since the 90's as a young boy and took my son here for the first time this weekend, I have to say this site is fantastic for young couples with children. Plenty to do and the staff are fantastic! The only bad point was having to leave

Check weather in area or contact site before you head up here as, with previous reviews, site is prone to getting boggy. We struggled to get a dry pitch after 36 hours of heavy rain, and after another 12 hours of rain 2 days later, whole site was virtually unusable and we had to head home. Shame, as this could be a very nice site by the river, though a little overcrowded for my liking in August - even midweek. Staff were first class and very knowledgable of all going on in area. Could be a bit of a trek to facilities which were a bit sparse considering the amount of tents they let in, but very clean and servicable. A nice area with plenty to do. Try Castle Redknock Trekking centre 4 miles away, great value and segway trekking is ace. A.A.Activities nearby is also good value for quad's, dirt buggies etc. Weather aside, we enjoyed our stay, but my advice would be to check first for conditions and how busy they are.

Arrived on site Friday at about 4pm. Had pre-booked a pitch, but this does not mean they reserve one for you. We we left to find some were to pitch on the river bank and struggled to find a pitch. But that aside the camp site is stunning the kids and adults loved it, only problem is the constant stink of sewage!

Pre-booked this as minimum stay is 2 nights. 2 adults & 2 children worked out at £44 for both nights. Staff showed us where to pitch straight away. There's a small shop selling rolls, milk & other small supplies for tents. The toilet block & showers were kept very clean with staff there throughout our stay cleaning them. The park was nice & quiet at night even though the kids were happy playing away within the playpark & throughout, great for families when your trying to get kids to bed! Great walks throughout the park & the river near by for the kids to spalsh about in. Aberfoyle just a mile up the road worth a visit. A great stay & would definetly return.

We have visited this site 3 times now and love it - camping doesn't get much better than this!!! Staff are fantastic - it's not just a job to these guys they work night and day and can't do enough for you. always quiet by 10.30pm - a must if you have young children - and spotless facilities - the toilets are cleanest i've ever seen!! Shop onsite sells the basics, milk, rolls etc plus camping gear, such as tent pegs, gas, disposable bbq's etc, plus dvd library, book, second hand equipment for sale (proceeds to charity). small playpark onsite can be seen from practically anywhere on the grass pitches. A great base for central scotland. We can't wait to go back!!!!

I have been to cobleland many times. I used to go there when i was a kid and now i take my grandaughter. I would highly recomed this site as the staff are very helpfull and the site is so clean and well looked after. There is plenty of hot water and the toilets are very clean. I spent 2 night there and will be back soon. It is such a lovely place to relax and enjoy nature at it`s best.

Been here a number of times this year as we have always been delighted by the cleanliness of this site. The warden and his wife are very helpful and friendly. Toilets spotless and plenty of hot water in the showers. The only downside to this site is during the midgie season when the wee buggers can be a real nuisance so pack the Avon SSS.

Initially booked for 2 nights but enjoyed Cobeland so much we stayed 7 nights! Wardens Graeme and Lesley gave us a friendly welcome and were extremely helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. Toilets and showers were kept clean and tidy. The site, situated on the River Forth is ideally located for many scenic drives and forest walks. It is worth visiting the David Marshall visitor centre above Aberfoyle (a few minutes drive from the site) as a good introduction to the area. We hope we can return soon!

Having just spent another three days at this site i was not let down, once again the staff, facilities and atmosphere were superb. The forrest rangers really are very helpful and go out their way to make sure your stay is great. The toilet and shower facilities are spotless. The walks and the river forth running thru the site make it a perfect location to escape and just relax, kids cant wait to go again.

when I saw the reports on this site i thought what a gem ive missed ,our experiance however did not match that of others, the entire cmp field was waterlogged, although the site book does admit to some floodding, it had been raining locally from about 10 am we arrived on site 16:30 the staff on arrival were most welcoming and helpful also the grounds guys we met very cheery, however there are only 4 showeres for 135 pitches(1 of the doorsa would not lock) and the lady inside got quite a fright when i opened it the facilities provvided were spotless and could not be fualted -simply inadequte our motorhome pitch was up a hill in an area that could best be described as a disused quarry with wash down from the surrounding trees arriving right at our door we could not erect our awning as the pegs are not suitable for stone I would suggest anyone with kids should think carefully about taking them to this site the river was in spate when we were there, the upper site could be improved by cutting down some of the trees as at present there is no outlook from any of the pitches

JUST CAME BACK FROM A TWO NIGHT STAY AT COBLELAND. THIS WAS A GREAT SITE AND WILL WILL BE GOING BACK SOON. THE STAFF WERE BRILLIANT AND GREAT WITH OUR TWO KIDS. THE PATH FROM THE SITE TO ABERFOYLE WAS IDEAL FOR WALKING OR CYCLING AS IT IS FLAT AND AWAY FROM THE ROAD. THE FACILITIES ON SITE WERE SPOTLESS WITH PLENTY OF HOT WATER. THIS IS A GOOD PLACE FOR FAMILIES WITH PLENTY TO DO FOR KIDS CANT WAIT TO GO BACK

Spent two nights here at beginning of august and found the site to be brilliant (apart from the weather). Toilets/showers immaculate. Fantastic walks/cycling trails around site. Very peaceful and quiet (camp closes at 10.30PM) and is ideal for families. Staff were outstanding, to the extent that the guy who runs the site even managed to get my broken-down car going again (after the AA had given up on it!). Will definitely be returning in the future!

We went to Cobleland in May 2008. The facilities were very clean and staff could not have been more helpful. The Ranger activities were brilliant. We went on a dusk walk which was both fun and informative. The site itself has beautiful views and was very quiet - ideal for a relaxing break. A site that we will definitely be back to in the very near future.

Took my 2 wee girls (7y.o. & 3y.o.) on their first camping experience to Cobleland and they loved it. Excellent site in a fantastic location. Staff police the site well; but were certainly not o.t.t. as others have suggested. Only complaint was that the site was allowed to get too busy and cramped where we were.

this is a great wee site right in the heart of scotland. staff are excellent and not o.t.t. as other reviews suggest. this site is run just the way my family and i like it. enjoy the company of others but also let others have their space. forrests all around so plenty of walking if you wish, a half hours walk and you are in aberfoyle town, with some shops and pubs if you wish. all in all agreat place to visit for a night or longer. we stayed 5 night but wish it could be longer. will return.

Stayed for one night on 30 Aug. Site was busy despite the poor weather. Some of the touring and tent pitches were roped off as they were waterlogged and the childrens’ play park was quite muddy – not that that stops the children! Facilities were all very clean but I would agreed with Jaz about the washing up facilities. We did not go on any but there were guided walks by the local park Ranger that sounded fun.

Nice site, great for kids as forest close by and river runs along edge of site. Easily waterlogged though. Rained heavily when we were there in July and loads of puddles about. Several tents had to move, especially those pitched near river.

Lovely well kept tidy and peacefull campsite. Toilets, showers and laundry area clean and tidy (only four shower rooms). No log fires allowed but bbq's are as long as they are a good distance off the ground. Stands available free of charge to help with this matter. Although our bbq didnt fit on a stand wardens provided a breeze block to prevent grass from getting scorched. Good walks and cylce paths right on campsite's doorstep. Good 30min walk in to Aberfoyle along tarmac path with reasonable/good access for wheelchairs or the option of forest trail in same direction. Motel 'The RobRoy' half way along, although my partner and I felt this was more suited to older age groups however it was a nice refreshment all the same. Campsite staff helpful and appeared to keep order on the site for everyone's benefit. Midges not that bad either even though it is along side the River Forth (good breeding ground for them) Not sure if fishing was allowed but kids were and seemed to enjoy catchin a fish or 2.

We picked this site from the reviews we read here and were not disappointed. The staff were very helpful and friendly - a booking problem was sorted out immediately, and some noisy people were dealt with very promptly by the manager. The site has a lovely friendly atmosphere - lots of children playing out with plenty of adults keeping an eye on them - this of course depends who else is on site, but very family orientated and quiet at night. Surrounding area has lots of great things to do - you can take a cycle path to nearby Aberfoyle or Callendar, great walking and exploring. The facilities are clean and perfectly okay. We would definitely go back.

We spent the May bank holiday there. I have never been to a more crowded campsite. Having said that the manager warned me when I booked that the pitches were small. It turns out that the site is part of the forestry commission group that are being invested in by the Camping & Caravan club so you get a £3 discount if you belong to that club. Furthermore, fingers crossed they will be investing in the toilet block etc in the next 12 months or so. The site is much as the other reviews say. Fantastic cycling (off road ) from the site in all directions as well as a sustrans track. A river along the edge has a beach area with much adventuring to be had. Staff were really helpful - because they were full and pitch sizes were tight they had men out and about placing the caravans for us - they helped us unhitch on the road and wheeled the vans in backwards. This was all done in a very cheerful manner. If you can go without electric hook-up you can pitch right beside the river but we were happy to be beside the play area. This site has real potential, I look forward to going back soon to see what improvements are made. I definitely recommend it, and if your personal space is as large as mine, book for a non-peak time!

Went there a few weeks ago and had a great time. Incredibly friendly & helpful staff. Good wee shop on site for the basics. Great for cycling as it's on the national cycling network (route 7) which provides a direct path to Aberfoyle town centre (30 min walk). Also only 15 min walk to Rob Roy pub/hotel/restaurant. Only slight downside is the number of shower cubicles - could do with more. Looking forward to going back!
