Cashel Caravan and Camping Site
I first used the site as a stopover in 2009 while doing the west highland way. I was very impressed with the site, clean showers and toilets, lots of hot water and very helpfull and friendly staff in a wonderfull setting on the very edge of Loch Lomond. I was so impressed that this year I persuaded my wife to spend a week camping with our two boys instead of going to spain it was a disaster!!! The site is still one of the best I have ever used but I was very dissapointed at the attitude of the staff, not at all the friendly greeting I had recieved two years earlier, grumpy staff not even returning my "Good Mornings" my wife was so upset at the way our two seven year olds were shouted at we left two days early! Never again.

Stayed here for one night in Aug 11. I was amazed by the stunning views, the sunset was fantastic. I was also amazed by the toilet and shower facilities, after 3 nights camping at another site in the Lakes the facilities at Cashel were a luxury! One downside was that it is on the quieter side of the lake and you cant drive all the way around the loch this meant a detour for us, however if you want a quiet site for walking and other sports this is great, alos you wouldnt get the sunsets on the other side of the loch.

Have been going to Cashel for 6 years now, always as our first weekend away of the season. This year it has been completely taken over by the Camping and Caravan Club, whose motto is 'The Friendly Club. The campsite has a great position on the banks on Loch Lomond and you can't take that away from it. What spoiled it was the attitude of the Site Manager, from arriving his opening line 'Do you have a booking?, then 'Round this way'. into the office. He then gave me the tickets to put on the car and tent, wrote a number on a pamphlet and handed it all to me. I then had to ask if the number was for the toilet block, which it was. The next time he spoke to me was on the Sat morning when Iwas kicking a ball to my daughter - again he came over and said ' You can't do that, it's not allowed. I replied You are kidding, to which he said Why would I kid. I had only just joined the club and hadn't realised that NO BALLS, FRISBEES AND KITES are allowed on the site. If the campsite was busy I could have seen his point, his attitude was still bad, but there were THREE, yes, THREE tent on the whole site. This attitude really spoiled a good weekend. My wife also spoke to another person in a caravan - who said that he spaid to them the lead on their pup was too long. So for it being the Friendly Club , I am still waiting on seeing that side of it. Don't think I will be renewing my membership next year.

We stayed there in May 2010, The site is idyllic , very peaceful and views of the loch are stunning. As previous posters have said I have to comment that the staff are extremely helpful, we did not know how to put our awning up and the girl came down and helped us, above and beyond the call.. Lovely site as said before maybe not for kids great for chilling. We will be back soon :)

The location was fantastic, with some great beach areas on the loch. Toilet & shower facilities were excellent, very clean and modern. The site is fairly pricey at £13 for a 2 campers in a tent and an additional £4.75 per camper in each tent. However, we were charged double this amount- apparently a bank holiday charge, on the tuesday after a bank holiday monday which seemed ridiculous. Sadly, the only other local campsite is affiliated with this one so the prices are the same and they can basically charge what they want with no local competition. But again, the facilities were to an excellent standard. Would return, not near a bank holiday though.

just back from Cashel 10/11 april 10. Firstly, the bad points, 48 quid for 2 nights camping with elec hook up was pretty steep and i had to pitch the tent on hard standing which was difficult and uncomfortable! Now the positives. Staff incredibly helpful (thanks) views out across loch stunning and facilities on site excellent (toilet and shower block). Other campers who were regulars on the site very friendly aswell. Would love to go back but would appreciate the price being reviewed and elec hook up in the tent area on site

i remember this site as a young nipper due to my grandad taking me camping every year and he always used this site, and now i`m all grown up i also now take my son here every year and he just loves it!!! its well placed for just jumping in the car and going for long drives. the beach is great too full of pebbles for skimming along the top of the water i`ll never grow out of doing that lol, top site top people first class allround.

We stayed at this sight over a bank holiday weekend, so it was very very full. I'll break this down into a few Pros and Cons. Pros: Great facilities, beautiful location right on the loch, and great walks and fishing nearby. Cons: There didn't seem to be any real designated place to pitch tents. They were stuck in and around the caravans; some looked to be on some pretty bumpy and rough ground. Summary: Great for caravans, but not all that geared for tents. I usually stay at tent only sights, so maybe I'm just used to having space.

This was our second visit to this campsite and I just felt that we should let people know what a great place this is. The toilets and showers are kept extremely clean. The lochside location is beautiful and the stream is great for the kids to paddle in (when it hasn't rained too much) Best of all are the staff. They are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Well worth a visit

A very pleasant loch side location, staff were friendly and incredibly informative. I can recommend walking up the West Highland Way to the hotel at Rowdenna. The toilets and showers were first rate, the only problem was the descent of midges due to the stream running through the site.

We stayed for 2 nights on this site. Fantastic location - we enjoyed a stunning water's edge pitch and we were well placed to walk up Ben Lomond on a cracking day for views. Agree with other reviewers that the staff were very friendly. Only drawback is the price - by far the most expensive in our round Scotland camper van tour!

Arrived here while walking the WHW, with terrible raw wounds on the inside of my legs. There isn't a doctor of drugstore in walking distance but the staf really helped me finding an ointment that in the end helped me, no was essential, to finish the WHW the way it was intendend: walking. Great people who didn't want any form of payment for this.

We have visited this site over the past ten years, we always have a great time. The location is bril, lots of great walks, and there always Ben Lomond if you are energetic. The shop is well stocked up , I particularly like how they serve hot food, great after you've put the tent up, and cant be bothered to cook after either getting "droont wa rain or bite wa midgies" nothing to beat a roll n' bacon. couple who run the site were really nice, couldn't do enough for you. Thats what makes a good site, Service, peace and quiet, some wine, sitting watching the stars or listening to the radio or reading a book, whatever you want, the night is yours, cheers.

A better site for caravans than tents I feel as the tent area is not particularly well drained if there has been a lot of rain (and when isn't that the case on the west coast?) Pitches with views seem to be reserved for caravans. A bit overpriced, with a complicated pricing structure too. Loos and showers were fine.

Really friendly staff and laid back.Excellent showers and the views are fantastic across the loch.I would say its more for chilling out with a few cans or whatever u prefer as opposed to a site for all the family although there is a wee playparkto keep them occupied for about 5 minutes.Lastly I only booked for 2 nights without a problem.

found this campsite while out for a drive and decided we had to visit due to it being right on loch lomond and the views were stunning. lovely quiet site, just what we were looking for to get away for a quiet weekend. i dont know where someone was told that you can only stay for a minimum of 3 nights, i myself stayed for two. shower facilities are excellent also. people were also very friendly. loch lomond has stunning views and i would reccomend it to anyone.

Simply Excellent
I could not find fault with this campsite. We arrived late on a Friday night in the middle of one of the worst insect attacks Ive ever known. The person on charge showed us around and even opened the shop after hours to allow us to get some insect repellant. Pitch was excellent with a view of the water just a few feet in front of us. The views at the campsite were exactly like the picture shown. The shop had prices that were extremely cheap and even served all day breakfasts. Excellent toilets and showers. Even a hair dryer in the ladies bathroom (I am told :)). Very relaxed staff. Great walks. Good local pub. Enjoyed BBQs on the lake side each night. Could not recommend it enough.
