Situated on the seafront at the west end of Ullapool. 12 acres of level grass overlooking the Summer Isles. Great sunsets. Now has midgie eaters.
Total pitches:
Pub within 1 mile
Open from Apr to Sep
Our view: Only site located in Ullapool. Camp right down on waters edge and watch the boats coming in. Ideal location to catch up with town life. Loads of facilities right on doorstep. Would recommend this as a base for whatever you plan to do in NW Highlands.

Broomfield Holiday Park Ullapool
Stayed here for 4 nights in July 10. Stayed here before and after a trip on the ferry to Lewis. We didn't need the tent on Lewis and were very happy to hear that there was no problem in leaving it pitched ready for our return. This was at a nominal fee. Really saved a lot of hassle as our ferry out was early morning and coming back was late at night. The facilities onsite and surrounding area are all excellent and there is good dog walking area right next to the site. We stayed over the weekend and if you camp too near the entrance you will get noise from the nearby pubs which had live music until 1am. But I cannot fault the site at all and thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

OK for a one night stop and a night out in Ullapool but really why stay here when you can stay in places like Clachtoll and Scourie and Durness instead? Big and busy and industrial. All facilities.

We stay at Broomfield whenever we can, it's a fantastic site in a stunning location. The kids adore it even though theres not a lot for kids on site the proximity of the sea and town more than make up for it. The campsite staff are really helpful and friendly and showers etc really clean, very good value for money can't wait to return.

We have stayed there twice, once in 2006 for the music festival Loopalu and once in 2008 for 6 nights. Loopalu was crowded but the facilities coped! 2006 was a proper holiday and we found a sheltered spot at the far end of the camp within easy distance of the shower block (one of two if I remember correctly) which always had plenty of hot water and was clean and tidy. The ground is quite stony so make sure you have strong tent pegs! We had a quiet spot right next to the beach and the sunsets, mentioned by others already, were stunning! Shop facilities nearby are excellent and the local hardware shop has things to buy that I can't find in bigger shops in cities. Great site, great location and well worth a visit.

Have been to Ullapool sveral times now and just returned from a few days spent in Broomfield. This is a wonderful site, well run, clean and tidy and efficient, friendly staff. The views out to the summer isles are magnificent and you will experience some stunning sunsets! others have commented on the pubs and restaurants etc all nearby and we would agree with the positive comments generally made. We also last week took the RNLIB rigid inflatable trip out to the summer isles. You are wll prepared for the trip with a survival suit and lifejacket (no honest!) but this is just a precaution due to the nature of the speed of the boat and the obvious dangers of the local waters; don't let this put you off!! It is a fabulous trip (pricey admittedly) at two hours long and the views from the sae looking back to Ullapool and beyond are staggering. All in all it made the trip extra special this time and we are planning to return again soonest! Check out this site, you won't be disappointed.

Broomfield Holiday Park, Ullapool - A Word of Caution
We stayed here in a tent for two nights in July (Thus & Fri). It has a lovely setting on the edge of Loch Broom with views towards the Summer Isles and the centre of Ullapool (shops, cafes, pubs etc) is about a five minute walk away. We did get the impression the site is run on a quantity, rather than quality, basis. It is a big open site and the wardens only seemed to be around first thing in the morning to collect fees and between 3pm and 5pm. There was little on-site information. What facilities there are were pretty simple but they were clean. Given the site’s proximity to the centre of Ullapool there is no need to have any more than the standard, shower / toilet, dishwashing and laundry facilities on-site. The one note of caution I would give is that it was very noisy late on the Friday night and into early Saturday morning. A number of campers had been for a ‘night on the tiles’ in Ullapool before coming back to the campsite, showing little consideration for other campers. Reading the other reviews I see others have had similar experiences. In summary – a good st opping off point midweek if you are touring the far north west of Scotland but avoid it at the weekends.

Lovely flat site overlooking Loch Broome right in the heart of Ullapool. Great place to clean up, have a take away or two (fish & chips, indian and chinese etc. all nearby), stock up before setting off further north! Lots of level pitches and a good dog exercise area by the river alongside the caravan park.

I stayed here a few years ago, but returned 2008 with family in tow. On arrival, office closed (these folk have lifes too),went off to find pitch, with a few other campers helping rearranged the hook ups so we could get in by the sea front. The staff collected fees later and are so friendly too. Great laundry area, and the kids liked the washing up area (I was on holiday, that's their job). The showers can be a hit or a miss and yes its 20p (the gents seem to get better value) for 5mins. It's a lovely large campsite with plenty of loo's and staff keep it lovely and clean, there is a play area, but my kids said the midges were playing in it too much, plus they loads to do anyway! The campsite has all amenities on it's doorstep no need for your car/van to go everywhere, everything is on your doorstep, swimming pool, cafes, shops, and plenty of bars. Great site, it's not the cheapest site we've been to, but you get what you pay for.. We're counting down the days until we return.

I think this is the only campsite I've visited in Scotland where we could SO easily visit the centre and/or go to the shops while leaving our car beside our tent!!! The reception has limited opening hours and if closed, set up and they pass in the morning to be paid. A bakery van passes in the morning too. I spent a couple of nights here, unfortunately had noisy neighbours, so what with that and the fishing boats coming back into port, had one hell of a bad night's sleep!!!

Nice situation by the shore, close to the village. We were put off slightly by the huge area covered by "hookups only" and the 20p cost of a shower. But great to be in reach of a pub again and the superb fish and chips!!

Though I live in far-away India, I've camped at Broomfield three times in the last 5 years. Have not found a better located campsite anywhere in the U.K. The only think that rankles is that you have to pay for a hot shower, something that is free at nearly all other campsites. I'd also recommend the bar meals at the Ferry Boat Inn, a two minute walk from the campsite.

Unlike most campsites, this one is within 400m of 6 pubs, 2 chippers, 1 Co-op, 1 outdoor shop and a ferry terminal. The SW facing shore gives sun all day. The management come round in a van each morning to collect slightly high fee's. Anchor Inn has SKY tv projection in front of 4 leather sofas. Fab!!!

My favourite site in Scotland. Clean toilets and showers, well-maintained grass and pleasant owners. The owners leave you to your own devices without imposing lots of rules. Fantastic sunsets from your tent and very handy for the delights of Ullapool - numerous shops and pubs to choose from. Make sure you have strong pegs and plenty of midge repellent.

stayed here last week on our first ever camping trip,. despite being the first week of the english school holidays the park though busy was clean, tidy and had plenty of space between pitches. you must try the indiam resturant at the gates to the sit..yummy! plenty to do and see in the area, but mostly if weather is fine. the only down-side (which made us move on earlier than planned) was the dreaded midgies.. we had spray, lotion, and coils to burn but they just got too much! we will def visit again, but in the spring when the midges are still asleep!!

very busy site which was to be expected due to location. excellent laundry but showers either red hot or cold. No evidence of midgie eaters as we were bitten to death. Would recommend that the staff make themselves a little more obvious as we saw very little of them. Wouldn't advise staying there at the weekend, due to various parties we were kept awake until the early hours

Having last camped here aged 19 it was interesting to revisit aged 45 with my good lady. Pleased to say it was everything I had remebered it to be. A stunning position right next to the town (or village) of Ullapool offering firm, well drained flat pitches and good, clean facilities. This can be either a beautifully quiet holiday or a lively break as Ullapool offers a choice of Pubs and Restaurants and it is very likely that a Ceilidh will break out at any time. A totally different world and one everyone should take the trouble to visit - but not all at once!

Beautiful Sunset
We visited this lovely campsite in September at the very end of the camping season. It is right by the beach and we were always amazed by the magnificent sunset across the water. The Shower block was cleaned regularly and there are sockets for hair dryers in them! There is a pub and a fab indian restaurant right at the entrace of the campsite! We will definitely be going back but I would recommend going in the summer as the weather was a bit ropey at the end of September

I have stayed at this site on numerous occasions over the past 6 years (april, may, july & august) and have always found it to be a great site to use as a base for exploring the area. Good base for children as there are council facilities within the town which are well worth visiting on those few wet days. Take a day trip over to the islands, try walking over the many mountains you wont be disappointed.

Good Site - Recommend
We went to this site many years ago and recently returned to it. It's a lovely site to stay. The site is both well kept and flat. There are two levels, the first as you enter the site and then further (and closer) to the Loch a lower level. The site is amazingly close to the town (2 minutes walk) so you have everything you need close at hand. Reccommend *****

Good Site
Stayed here a few times, handy for town/pubs/supermarket. Great views, loads of room for tents, showers and toilets a bit basic but clean, if you want hook up its a bit of a free for all to get a pitch, pitchs not really well laid out and at bank holidays it does get busy, so the seaveiw side does tend to get crowded. Will go again just for the view.
