Stayed 2 nights here, was very windy when I arrived so I wasn't sure if I would stay at all, but, as the owner said, there are plenty of sheltered spots for a tent. The ground is well drained and ever after heavy rain was not soggy at all. There are banks of wild flowers and willow separating the tents, and the pitches are at different heights letting you have a bit of privacy. The campervans are all lined up along the front and get the best views, but also catch the wind. 2 lots of toilets, and a wee shop and basic but good cafe in the reception building. Near enough Ullapool to nip down for fish and chips. Great wee site, friendly.

Just back from a 3 night stay, coming back to the mainland from the islands. Were glad to see new owners of the site making lots of changes including a welcome smile and some lovely home baking. Have always used this site because of it's location but was never run by friendly owners but great to see a new family in charge. Can't wait to return! Also fantastic fishing

Very welcoming and helpful staff. Useful shop with stores and camping accessories. The camping field is large and maybe a bit windswept at times.

This campsite was a fantastic find for us after several days of wet and very windy weather. We had been to quite a few other campsites and just couldn't get our wet clothes dry due to poor dryers that cost a mint. This website had a good value powerful dryer that handled everything in one load. Facilities were top notch. Fabulous shop that sells everything you could ever want for camping, lovely showers with private changing booths, lots of good quality toilets and sinks, wash up rooms ... everything. The campsite was very well designed. We were worried that a lochshore site would be very windy for our high tent, but the designer has the tent area below a steep bank and there are bushes and areas well sheltered for tents. Great play area for kids, and dogs welcome, couldn't be better!

Stayed here for 1 night in Jul 10. The site is nice and certainly quieter than the Broomfield in Ullapool. I stayed here because of the dog friendly reviews but found that although it is dog friendly there is nowhere to give the dog a good walk. The views are superb albeit not from the camping area as it is in a bit of a dip. All in all it was a decent site.

We have just returned from an 8 day stay at Ardmair Point. We were there last year too. The site is very dog friendly and our 3 loved being able to swim in the loch. Last year I felt the showers were poor and I got no hot water but this year I just let it run for some time and the hot water eventually arrived. We felt that the owners/reception were very helpful and friendly and the shop was great. We WILL be back

This site was easy to find, nice location, luckily we had good weather. The fact that the tents can't see the loch just means a short walk around and some fresh air! I agree with the need for insect repellant and citronella candles - you could feel them surrounding you as you got out of the car! Clean facilities and free showers! Only complaint were the noisy cattle waking us up at 5am and went on for over an hour! A good stop off point if doing a tour like we were - but don't think I could stay here for a long stint.

Booked in here for one night in June after seeing it in The Guardian "50 best campsites" booklet. Location is excellent however would not like to try walking to Ullapool - it is NOT 5 minutes walk as previous reviewer states, but a 5 min drive over a very steep hill! Stunning but stony beach (no bare feet) adjacent to campsite - unfortunately the pitches for tents are not facing out over Loch Broom but still pleasant enough views of the surrounding hills. The road that runs past can be busy, but didn't find it too intrusive when we were there. Facilities are very well kept and clean, possibly because you need a key to access the toilet/shower rooms which I felt was a little excessive. Not impressed with the showers - the "Press for Hot Water" button was either broken or exaggerating! Staff were polite but couldn't have said friendly and felt the 10p charge for refreezing our ice-packs was a little cheeky. Playpark and plenty of open space for kids. Plenty of wildlife to spot - we watched the trout leaping up out of the loch but didn't see any porpoises. It was fun looking for them though! All in all, not the cheapest but a good site and a lovely peaceful location.

We booked in here last week for a night, absolutely stunning location, unfortunately for us the weather was so bad - gale force winds & rain that our tent was wrecked & we had to head home without staying the night. There was'nt much shelter for tents against bad weather I don't think. I can say the facilities were good though one of the toilet blocks was closed. The traffic is noisy & I dread to think what it would be like at peak times. Anyway we have a new tent & will be back in Ullapool in a couple of weeks. We did sample the fantastic fish & chips to be had in Ullapool-fantastic

Lovely location with beautiful views (stunning sunsets) over loch broom. Those with tents have to pitch the other side of the shower/toilet block though so you cant see the views from your tent. The pitches facing the loch are reserved for camper vans/caravans, unfortunately. The facilties are clean but could do with additional showers (certainly in the ladies block) and the showers are not very powerful, however at least you dont have to feed them with 20 pences. Midgie repellent and citronella candles are a must (they sell these in the very well stocked site shop). No picnic tables to eat at on this site. Staff were "civil" though I wouldnt go as far as to say they were friendly.... Sadly, a little bit dour as if everything was an effort. Grass had been cut but all the grass-cuttings left lying to get wet which meant it inevitably ended up getting trailed into the tent and into the car.

Just arrived back from Ardmair camping. Excellent scenery, good location. Site facilities are generally ok although showers could do with being a little more powerful (mainly got a drizzle). I would definately suggest to anyone going to take mozzie repelent for those midges...I've been eaten alive...also some midge repellent candles for outside the tent. I would also suggest to bring stone breaking pegs also as trying to get standard tent pegs into the ground proves difficult as there is a layer of stone about two inches down. Other than that a pleasant stay. Recommended.

An absolutely beautiful spot with stunning views. Site is all clean but basic. Only a short distance from Ullapool which is a must to visit. Would only recommend walking there though in daylight as it is on a busy road and about a mile and half away. A must is to avoid the electric hitchup though behind reception as it backs on to the main road. We had to cut our visit short and move on due to two sleepless nights because of traffic noise! Did not find the staff friendly at all I am sorry to say which spoilt it.

This remains one of the best sites in north west Scotland although it retains a slight 1950's military base feel when you drive in ! Nearly everything is right about this site which enjoys an awesome position on the side of Loch Broom. You are only 5 minutes walk from the town of Ullapool which is a wonderful base for this part of the world (with quite superb fish and chips as mentioned by the other reveiwer). On the REAL ALE front there are 3 places to head for but the best is still the Ferry Boaf Inn right on the front which had 3 ales on hand pull last time I was there.
