Stayed for 2 night, £15 per night good for 2 adults,2 children. Lots of places to pitch your tent within the fields but quite a lot of it on slopes. Small playpark for kids with swings, chute that is surrounded by sand. They seemed to enjoy it. Nice walks through the forest onto the lochs nearby as well as Killin 5 minutes away. The reception sells some basic amenities if needed. The owners were helpful when freezing ice blocks, etc at no extra charge. The toilet blocks were small with 1 toilet & 2 showers in them. Must admit they werent the cleanest but not the worst we have seen. Just to the side they're dishwashing & laundry facilities. Site lovely & quiet during the day & night & definetly would return.

A little gem
Just returned from our first visit to Cruachan Farm and we hope it was the first of many!! Initial impressions on booking a pitch were good as the gentleman we spoke to was very friendly and helpful. On arrival, the young lady who took our (very reasonable) fee was extremely pleasant and made sure we knew where everything was. We started to pitch our tent to find that we had left some tent pegs at home and that due to part of our pitch being re-turfed, we were some 30 feet from the electric hook up post, meaning our cable would not reach. Back to see the young lady at reception - could she help us ? Oh yes she could - basket of pegs and 10 metre extension cable were found for us. Weather was not brilliant during our stay, but no rain so that meant our children (9yrs and 6 yrs) could use the small playground but spent majority of the time playing with other children on the site(acres - almost literally - of space for kids to play). The site itself does have sloping, areas, but on the up side, if you are a proper camper i.e. not bothered if you have access to electricity, there are some fabulous 'tucked away' pitches. NB - If you are 'soft' campers like ourselves, the site has very few tent pitches with electricity. Toilet / Shower facilities are limited in number but clean with lots of hot water and well maintained. Also laundry facilities on site as well. Restaurant serves good food which, whilst not being uber expensive, is also not 'cheap as chips'. This is one of those hidden gems that we all like to 'discover' - I am sure that in the wrong weather if there was a noisy group next door, it would not make for a relaxing stay, but same can be said for any camp site. We loved this place and cannot praise highly enough the service from the owners and their staff to ensure we had a great weekend

Had a brilliant weekend here. Site was busy but still lots of room for kids to run around and play football/rounders/cricket. Very quite at nights. Onsite restuarant served excellent food at very fair prices. Toilet/shower block seemed quite small initially for size of site but never had to queue. Will definetely be back.

spent 2 fantastic nights at Cruachan at end of April-great site, lovely views, small play park for kids, and plenty of space for them to run around or play ball games. Although site was full it was very quiet overnight. Restaurant on site is worth a visit serving reasonably priced, freshly prepared food.

Found your campsite via a search engine, now it's locked into my favorites. Easy to find, staff very friendly, toilet block small but clean. Great walks close by. The food at the small place at the entrance was amazing, great value and cooked to order ( fresh ). Thank You.

We stayed for two nights weather was perfect and the camp site had everything we needed. Amazing views and plenty of things to do and see. Only 10 min walk to Loch Tay, loads to do there for all the family. Only downside is sometimes people don't clean up after themselves.

Just back from four cracking days at Cruachan. Loved it !! Nice and clean not a single person near or tent so very quiet. Very relaxed about when to pay etc. Not much for kids but I think they were starting to build a new playpark just as we were leaving. We were there with our four Huskies and we were all made very welcome. Going back in Sep.

First time camping. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the site. Food was lovely at the restaurant and the staff were very pleasant. They even came looking for us on the site when they overcharged us accidentally for a meal! Toilets and showers clean. Very relaxing and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet time.

This was a very pleasant friendly site which we visited in 2006. We will return in 2007 weather permitting. If you are looking for peace and quiet here is the place (apart from the early morning wakening by the cockerel). The home-baked food in the pub/restaurant was excellent. The loch is a 5 - 10 minute walk downhill through forest trail. Small park area for children could have been better but my child enjoyed splashing around the pond. Only downside was that there did not seem to be many level pitches although the slopes were not too bad. Toilet and shower facilities were well looked after and hot water in abundance.

We have just returned from a great weekend at Cruachan Farm this is a fantastic site for just getting away from it all. We decided at last minute to go as we had just purchased a trailer tent. The site was very busy so I thought that we may have problems with showers etc. as there was only two blocks that I saw on site each with male & female facilities with 2 showers each but as busy as it was there were no queuing so no problems. The weather was wet and windy but the beauty of the place just makes up for it. The whole area is stunning. The site its self is very well run, friendly and welcoming. It’s a working farm so lambs were abundant, we had a visit to the tent by a Duck looking to be fed which my daughter took great delight in doing. As busy as it was there was no noise after 10 pm just the occasional conversation or laugh. Only had to interact with the staff when we were booking in and a simple hello in passing which to me is a good thing because then nothing is going wrong and nothing to complain about. If you are having to interact with the staff all of the time then something is not right. All in all a great site to which I will be going back to, only had 2 nights but would stay longer *****

We stayed at Cruachan in October 2005 and enjoyed our stay immensely. The location is excellent but you do need a car to visit the many attractions around and about. The hill walking is first class and there are plenty of small towns to visit offering good amenities whatever your interests might be. The site facilities can be stretched at busy times but are kept clean- the bar/restaurant was closed during our visit.

We've stayed here a few times now and love it. The site is well away from the road, and consequently very quiet. A short walk though the wood leads down to the shore of Loch Tay, or you can just explore the paths through the trees. Facilities are fine, not as extravagent as some sites, but quite adequate. The kid's play area is somewhat basic, but they don't seem to mind. All in all a very pleasant, friendly campsite.

Spent the last weekend in July on this site. Location is beautiful although very busy and trying to find a flat site was a bit of a challenge. Kids were thrilled at the short walk through the forest to the edge of the Loch, lots of exploring was done. Site was quite noisy but it was extremely busy and more showering facilities would be great but a good time was had by all. A great site for exploring the local area but you do need a car to visit the surrounding villages. Oh and be prepared for your early morning call from the cockerel!! Would definately come back again

This is a busy site on a fair slope with clean facilities but not enough of them. A car is required for the jorney into Killin as there are no pavements or street lighting along the road.

Great 1st week's camping with family
Spent Tuesday to Tuesday, 1st week in August with our 2 yr old daughter & 9 yr old son at Cruachan. We had a very relaxing week, the site is an excellent base for touring the local area. Were lucky enough to see Highland Games at Killin, the kids loved the Safari Park at Blair Drummond & all managed to get to the top of Meall Nan Tarmanach. The site was busy at the weekend but we still felt we had our own space, the toilets & showers were clean & the water hot. Our son enjoyed a new found freedom with the lighter Scottish evenings while we as parents felt relaxed by the safe surroundings & with any noise ceasing after 10pm. A very relaxed & enjoyable week was had by all & we would definately return.

Good site in lovely part of the trossachs, 3 miles from Killin. Separate tent and caravan areas with a toilet / shower block in each. Only 2 showers in the tent area and 1 in caravan area, with the water then cold when i had a shower at 9am on Sunday morning (height of Glasgow fair though so quite busy). A lot of pitches are on a bit of a slope but not too bad - just make sure you sleep with your head at the highest part! Very popular with families. Sign up saying keep noise down after 10pm but still kids up to 10 yrs old running and screaming around the site til 10.45pm and up again at 830am. Not the best if your radio is out of batteries! 5 minute steep walk down to Loch edge and no path from there to walk around the loch but very pretty spot. Restaurant on site looked to have great menu - fresh Scottish produce and reasonably priced too. Quite of number of pesky midgies too so take good repellant! Overall, fabulous setting in the hills, stuff to do nearby in Killin etc, would go back but with ear plugs and radio!
