The ideal location for the holiday of your choice. The caravan and camping park is run on an informal basis, the site is divided into two main areas one for camping and one for caravan's. Giving you the freedom to choose your own spot anywhere in the camping or caravan area. Whether you choose a sheltered spot amongst the sand dunes or a spot with a view across the Minch, the choice is yours, on our 55 acre site. Where ever you set up, our award winning beach is a stones throw away. Facilities include three toilet and shower blocks, one heated, providing ample facilities. Disabled facilities. 70 electric hook ups, dotted about in caravan and camping area. ELSAN disposal, for the emptying of chemical toilets. Purpose built Motorhome service point. Our View:	Large site close to beach. Able to camp in amongst the dunes. A little exposed. Some of the facilities were a bit dated when we visited in 2003. Wooden wigwams available to rent which came in handy when a tent pole broke!

Sands Caravan and Camping Park Unusual campsite. The owners seem to want you to enjoy yourselves. Everything is just so relaxed. Choose your pitch wherever you want. Nothing is marked out. No rows of caravans. Instead they're all just scattered about randomly. Because of this, you may be quite far from a power point, so take an extra long hook-up cable. Very quiet and peaceful. Great beach, and nice dunes serving as a windbreak. The ground is good solid sandy grass. We had a bit of rain but it drained away quickly leaving the ground nice and dry. My only complaint was that the toilets are typical of remote places, basic but functional. And of course , the midgies. Get a midgie head net and long sleeves or you'll regret it. Will I go back? Sands Caravan and Camping Park Been returning to this campsite year after year since 1969! Started going with my parents, have been back with husband, children and even grandchildren. Love the setting - usually camp near the slipway end so can walk out of tent and straight on to beach. Facilities are excellent, well maintained and clean. Plenty of toilet blocks, showers etc. Cooking and pot washing facilities provided undercover and away from MIDGES! Well stocked shop, friendly, welcoming staff who know the area and can make considered recommendations. Kids play area, usually busy though mostly youngsters spend a lot of time on the beach. Very much a family (and dog) friendly site but also good for couples, serious walkers etc as campsite so large you can choose to pitch away from main areas. Sands Caravan and Camping Park Having never been camping before i wasn't sure what to expect. I spent 3 nights at Sands and wasn't disappointed. The scenery was stunning and the campsite was big enough for tents, caravans, wigwams and motorhomes to share. There was a great area for the kids to play in but we were not bothered by noise at all. The toilets and shower blocks were all clean with very little or no queuing needed. The shop was excellent and you didn't really need to go to nearby Gairloch for anything. The staff were friendly and the shop/office had daily updates if anything was happening on site. Looking forward to my return journey! Sands Caravan and Camping Park A well located spot with stunning views of Scotland high mountains and sunsets to die for! A stunning beach with white sand and free of jellyfish. Water was a tad cold so I'd advise a wet suit for swimmers. The campsite facilities can easily cater for the masses. We were there during the school holidays yet still had no trouble queuing for washing machines or dryers! The campsite shop stocks most things you'll need without having to venture into the nearby town of Gairloch. Sands Caravan and Camping Park My family love this site, like so many folk before, we were only staying for 1 night that ended up 4 nights. The 4 legged members of that family had a number of choices of great long walks,(dog owners please pick up and bin the dog mess). The kids only came back to the van for food(the way it should be;-))between the beach, games room and general adventure. Hubby loved the scenery, walks, and he found the ground great for the awning pegs. Sands have a great laundry room with spin dry, washers,tumble drier, irons + boards, plenty of sinks, lovely clean toilets and fab showers that are powerful, hot unlike so many campsites showers. Smashing! What a splendid place! The location is excellent, right next to a fantastic beach that was perfect for a relaxing evening walk with the hound before putting the baby to bed. The only downside is that there's not an on-site bar to have a quick pint on the return journey! But, the shop does have a well-stocked beer fridge so it's all ok..... There are few rules and common sense is allowed to prevail, which all of our fellow campers had in abundance. Tents have one area, caravans another and campers can go where they like, the only request is to keep at least 20ft from your neighbour (fair enough!). The facilities were very good, and the old on-site chip van was a lot better than expected. To simply sum up this site, we booked for two nights but stayed for five and didn't want to leave! Sands Caravan and Camping Park My fiance and I went to Sands at the weekend for our first camping trip! We will certainly be back and have already recommended the place to family and friends. Everything was great about the site in terms of toilets, showers, the shop, the beach, the views, plenty of bins, etc. I wanted to go somewhere to get away from it all and Sands didn't dissapoint, the location is stunning/peaceful and talking a walk along the beach was great. It did rain most of the time we were there but that didn't put us off and I can't wait to return to Sands in the next couple of weeks! Sands Caravan and Camping Park Without sounding like a rep for the place, I have to say this has to be THE best campsite in the UK, Absolutely nothing even verging on negative to say about the place at all, Nothing !. Ive given it 5 Stars for every category, as it is the bomb when it comes to relaxing and unwinding by the sea. We stayed for a week in August, and never saw a drop of rain ( up to Mother Nature I know, but it all helps ! ), sunsets to die for every night whilst traipsing along the beach - check out my photos on esnips.com/web/TomsPhotoghraphy.com - see for youself, it is an amazingly well run place, with as little or as much staff help as you require. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place, with space all round your pitch, even at peak times, 10 second walk to that pristine beach, immaculate facilities, the cleanest I have seen, friendly neighbours on all sides, as well as good shops and restaurants in Strath and Gairloch just along the road. Perfect, just perfect, 20 out of 10. We will be back as soon as holidays allow. Thanks to all the guys at Big Sand - Did I mention how good it was ?? Sands Caravan and Camping Park A campsite run as a campsite should be! 5 Stars all round! (and I'm very hard to please! LOL!) We arrived for a one-night stop-over whilst on our 'Grand Tour' of Scotland - we hadn't booked but were lucky enough to treat ourselves to one of the wooden camping wig-wams - we had a large wig-wam, complete with electric points, spotlights, kettle and large worktop area with storage. No cooking allowed inside the wigwams, but BBQ's were allowed outside, and a picnic table and outside light were included - there was also a large indoor camping shelter for cooking and eating - with a coin-operated hob, not far from the wigwams - this also housed a dish-washing area that was spotless. There were also a few fridges and freezers for campers use - great to re-freeze ice-packs....Around the back of this same block, was the toilet block - I have never seen so many toilets and showers on a campsite - and this was just one of the THREE toilet blocks!!!! They were also spotless! Our children loved the play-park - especially the zip-wire. The beach was beautiful, as was the view - Skye visable across the water. The midges were on duty (although not in spoil-your-holiday quantities) - we purchased some midge nets in the VERY well stocked shop - selling not just bread and milk, but everything from maps, books, camping equipment, toys, postcards, sweets, treats, ice-creams, frozen food to meat etc....... Sands Caravan and Camping Park A wonderful campsite,in a fantastic location.We enjoyed a 10 day break here at the end of July.The weather was very kind to us - only one day of rain - and we came home with a tan! Location is enviable right next to a lovely beach which the kids enjoyed.There is also a well stocked shop onsite which has everything you need - freshly baked rolls every morning went down a treat. Will def return here next year,bit of a long drive from Fife but the stunning scenery more than makes uo for that. 5 stars!! Sands Holiday Centre Nr Gairloch We went in July 2006, we had such a great stay. Two families went together so there were five adults (including nanny at 65 years old who slept in a tent!) Five children ages between 4 and 12 and three dogs. We pitched the tents with plenty of room on the far side of the campsite. With stunning views over to the Isle of Skye and an incredible sandy beach the kids were happy. We went walking, cooked out, played games with the kids and had relaxing glasses of wine in the evening. We only had a couple of days of sunshine, the rest was overcast although only one day of rain. The facilities were fabulous and each morning we walked to the shop to buy freshly baked bread and pastries. The site was clean, shop well-stocked and there was so much to go and see on that side of the coast. We will definitely return as soon as we can. Sands Holiday Centre Nr Gairloch When i was but a boy caravaning with my parents in the late1970's we were frequently turned away from this site, such was its' popularity. Thankfully today you can turn up and pitch up with ease. This was our first time camping and we couldn't have chosen a better place. The site is immaculate with views to die for. Facilities are more than adequate and how far they are from you is up to where you pitch. My 6 year old daughter had great fun in the dunes, beach and play park and we felt safe giving her free run. If you are going camping for the first or umpteenth time and haven't been here put it top of your list for a site to stay in. Highly reccommended. Sands Holiday Centre Nr Gairloch My boyfriend and I were only planning to stay on Saturday 12th August. However, the positon, view, and price made us stay another night in a wigwam, and another 2 nights later on in the week. It was such good value for money, and an amazing alternative for an inexperienced tent-er like myself (although, pitching was a breeze as it was very secluded and the sandy ground made it really easy to get the pegs in). I would recommend this camping site to anyone - especially couples looking for value for money and peace and quiet - and you can put the money you have saved to getting the best fish and chips ever, 2 miles down the road in Gairloch! A fine site A sprawling site few miles out of Gairloch. Tents and campervans can pitch in amongst dunes, watch out for the snails...... I woke up to find hundreds of them in/on/around tent. Toilet and showers (hot and free) are in plentyful supply though no soap provided, cleaned daily but are in need up updating (bring your flip flops for showers). There's a laundry, dishwashing areas, shop sells windbreakers (which can be essential), kids play area and a games room. Best thing about this site though is the incredible beach and amazing views when weather is good. No midges when I was there, possibly due to midge busters installed around site, or possibly due to high winds... who knows! Not really a site to get away from it all, but covers most bases.
