FIRST TIME EVER STAYING IN A TENT. ON-SITE STAFF COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE HELPFUL. SITE IS CLEAN AND TIDY AND SITUATED IN THE MIDST OF SOME BEAUTIFUL SCENERY. VILLAGE IS ONLY A SHORT WALK AWAY, CAN BE REACHED BY ROAD OR BY A WALK ALONG THE CANAL BANK. WILL DEFENITELY BE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR.

Fantastic views from the site just on the outskirts of Fort Augustus. The site is immaculate with all the facilities you could require. Camp Kirtchen Launderette and very clean showers. It is a quiet site and although you cant book in advance there were plenty of pitches available. The owners went out of their way to help

Nice site but not as close to the Loch as I thought. Had a mile or so walk into the village - lots of pubs, places to eat and things to do there.(Evening cruise not running when we where there even though it was beginning of August). Nice Fish and Chip shop! Site was clean and let you camp wherever you wanted within reason. We had good weather so didn't need to use the kitchen - but it looked good. Had to pay to freeze our freeze blocks - 20p each but didn't mind as the money goes to charity. Nice stop off on our 8 night tour of Scotland.

Fort Augustus Caravan and Camping Site July 2007
We stayed for one night at this quiet, friendly site (would have stayed longer but for a ripped tent). Beutiful area, the site was spotless. Showers were hot and no queues. Dishwashing facilities, launderette and a small camp kitchen with kettle, toaster, microwave and some cups etc were also immaculate. The kitchen was really handy, -with a picnic table inside, it would be a great retreat in the rain. The staff were very helpful, lending tape for the ripped tent! There is a small sand pit and rope swing for the kids, but a better playpark would have improved the experience for our small kids. The on site shop is small, doesn't sell milk which would have been handy. We would definately go back. Midges weren't a problem - on this night in July anyway! Lots to do in the area.

Peaceful site with good level pitches and when we were there plenty of room for everyone. Loos & showers were clean enough although there was no soap supplied for handwashing which I thought a bit odd. Also the gents block has clear glass windows which is a bit disconcerting. For dishwashing there is an area outside with two sinks sharing one draining board which essentially means only one can use it easily. There is another sink in the campers kitchen which helps but is not really enough. They do freeze your ice packs though, and the money goes to a local charity which I thought was a nice touch.

very well maintained site with good amenities ideally located for the village and beyond. good clean shower and toilets, laundry room and enclosed campers kitchen made our stay very good. shop on site a bit basic but most of your supplies can be bought in the village including gas for your camping stoves. not much to keep the kids entertained on site so i would recommend bringing things along to amuse them on rainy days. pleasant and easy walks close by for the novice ramblers the canal walk especially nice. days out for non drivers easy with buses to inverness and fort william.

We have visited this site three times over the last 5 years. The staff have always been very helpful and friendly. The site is exceptionally clean and tidy. The village is a short walk away with plenty to do and see whilst there. We would recommend this site highly to tourers. It is a great stop off on the way north. ps We have not rated childrens facilities as we have never needed to use them ( kids all grown) Also the shop is basic as the village is so close.

Excellent.
My wife,s first camping expedition and she really enjoyed it, thanks to this site. Apalling weather but the basic kitchen was a huge help. Everything was spotlessly clean and the on-site shop has all you need but remember that this is the Highlands so the ground is very unforgiving for tent pegs...take a hammer. Very pleasant and helpful staff. We will be back.
