4 acre site beside the tourist attractions. From the site you can relax and enjoy the fine panoramic views of the Pentland Firth, one of the most dangerous shipping channels in the world with its strong ebbing and flowing sea currents and spectacular tidal races. To your left you will see the Island of Stroma, three and a half kilometres from the mainland, inhabited by a seal colony and the occasional visitor. In front of you will see the Orkney Islands from Hoy on your left then to South Walls, Flotta, South Ronaldsay and Pentland Skerries to your extreme right. Situated within 1km of the site, there is a Post Office, Grocers Shop, Filling Station and also a Hotel open to non-residents. The main towns of Wick and Thurso are within 25mins travelling distance and Inverness 2hrs 30mins. Proprietor William Steven.
Total pitches: 90
Pub within 1 mile
Open from Apr to Sep
Our view: While since visited. Level pitches mainly of grass. Good views out to the Orkney Isles which are easily visited. Very "touristy" area. Close to hotel.

fabulous location, but you need to remember 20p for the shower. It can get very windy so bring extra guy ropes for the tent. Seaview Hotel is excellent to eat, try the scallops and lobster salad. Kids had a good choice too. Site closed its gates at 10pm so an evening meal in Wick was restricted timewise.

Had a lovely 2 nights stay at this site. Warm welcome, but then left to our devices to camp where we wanted - no hassle. Had a lovely view of the sea and the orkneys. Went on the wildlife tour but didn't see much that day. was unimpressed by the Groats Inn - very empty even in August. Not much atmosphere - only food they do is frozen pizza. Sunday evening the barman rang the bell, then turned the lights off so we had to leave very quickly! some other people on their first visit from New Zealand were not impressed with that kind of welcome! Campsite was lovely though. Clean facilities (if a bit dated). Secure with keys - used the wash and dry facilities. Good stay.

Nice, well-maintained site with ample, clean facilities. Site was very quiet when we visited (early September) and that suited us perfectly. Have been in high season (mid August) and it can get very busy. Pitches are not numbered so you can pitch your tent pretty much wherever you want. Drive 10 mins along the coast (SE) and see the Duncansby Stacks if you're a keen photographer. Try and pitch your tent with a little bit of shelter though, as the winds can get quite high, as the site is on the cliff edge.

The view of campsite offered is simply excellent! As seen in photos, we pitched our tent next to the cliff. Staff were friendly too. Town is small and everything is within walking distance. Offers quality Wildlife boat trips to see seabirds and seals. There are 2 operators for wildlife boat trips - 1 is with bigger boat; another is a 12-seating boat. I prefer the latter that it could go very near the seals and into caves that bigger boats could not have done so. There are also ferries to Orkney Island which is well worth the visit too. The facilities provided are basic but clean. No kitchen though. But with the stunning view, it does not matter.

Nice site
The only reason i have given this site 2 stars is due to the fact the hot water was off due to a problem with the boiler. It had fantastic views and as a couple we wanted a quiet corner of the site as we have two dogs. We got lovers corner which is almost enclosed on 3 sides and with careful parking you can be cut off from everyone. Very private. Definately take the widlife cruise (?16) it lasted 45 mins and the guide was brilliant. Book at the habour (its a small speedboat - not the full day ferry cruise). DO NOT eat at the Sea view hotel. Awful.
