Total pitches: 45 Pub within 1 mile Open from Apr to Sep Our view: A great wee site with own beach and safe bay for kids to play/swim in. Can cross to further headland depending on the tides. Good clean facilities and well looked after site. guide

Gorten Sands Caravan Site This was the first time I had ever used a caravan park as I usually camp in isolated places. I used this caravan park because I wanted to be active in visiting many places in the area so I thought this campsite would be a good base and safe for my caravan. I did some research on the other campsites nearby on the coast. Although there were cheaper campsites, their reviews were not as favourable as Gorton sands. Having stayed there for a week this June I was very fortunate with the weather, hot sunshine from sunrise to 9.30pm all week. I was very impressed by the services of Mr Macdonald (no relation, promise!) and his wife who do an excellent job in the upkeep of the property; facilities were very clean and efficient. The bay and surrounding areas are fantastic with great views to the summer isles. Children and dogs seem to love it too. I found no faults at all with this site and will certainly be back....if they let me! Gorten Sands Caravan Site Beautiful site with stunning views. Sunsets are breathtaking. Need to be aware that when it rains up there, it rains! Take plenty of wet weather gear and games to keep the kids amused if they can't get out. Gorten Sands Caravan Site My better half and I travelled up to the west coast, and stumbled upon this campsite. No more could be asked of the place, short of a weather changing capability. It poured down most of the time; however, the facilities, for a campsite, were spot on, showers, toilets, laundry, and dishwashing. The site is beautifully placed right on the coast, and is nigh on perfect for what's required. For all those who want to use an attractive, practical campsite as a base for travels and adventures around this gorgeous area of Scotland, Gorten Sands takes some beating. Gorten Sands Caravan Site I had a great holiday here, met loads of really friendly people and was always busy. The midgies were few and far between and we were lucky with good warm dry July weather. Loads of places to visit including the Arisaig Highland Games. We're going back ...... Gorten Sands Caravan Site Gorten sands is a fantastic site with decent enough facilities to suit all. The views from the site are to die for and the kids just love it. Very clean, friendly, well looked after site. You will need to book in the summer as it is very popular with many families returning year after year which tells its own story. Gorten Sands Caravan Site Arisaig Gorten Sands in Arisaig is a lovely campsite. It is found about two miles from Arisaig shops situated right on the coast. There are two beaches, one which has private access via the campsite and another which is open to the public, but both are clean, white sands and very safe for children. Its a very rocky coastline so plenty to amuse children and adults. The site is ideal for those who love boating, canoeing etc. There is a slip way on the public beach, but you can leave your boats on the private beach and everyone watches out for everyone else. Very safe and friendly. The campsite is mainly field, but there are some hard standing, although it is recommended to book in advance. The top field is mainly for tents and caravans requiring electric hook up, and the lower level which is directly onto the beach is mainly for other caravans or camper vans. There are two toilet blocks, one in the top field, one in the lower. There are ample toilets. Showers there are 3 in total for each sex, but doesn't usually create a problem to get in. There is also a laundry room for washing dishes, including also a washing machine, tumble drier, ironing board and pay phone. This is a very relaxing campsite and ideal to tour scotland. Not ideal if you are looking for a campsite to drink alcohol on all day, as the owner doesn't like excessive noise and may ask you to leave. Its a family site. Fabulous Gorten Sands Site I have just returned from this site which I have have visited it for many,many years as a child then and an adult. I camp from early til late in the season visiting a lot of places, and still this remains firmly my favourite site.It has its own very safe beaches, perfect for children with white sand which gently shelves in to turquoise sea,tons of colourful shells,the best and most lively rockpools I've seen and views out to Rum,Eigg&Skye.There is also a big island you can go out to for a few hours when the tide is out that is great for bird/nature watching and total peace and quiet .The owners are kind,friendly and very obliging people who always make it a pleasure to stay there. Facilities,though not the most modern are always spotless and well maintained.Nearest shop about 2 miles away in Arisaig but Mallaig 8 miles up the road will provide just about anything you might need. A great base for exploring the West Highlands. Pleasant site great location The site offers generally flat pitches for tents but watch out for low lying areas or depression and dips in the ground. In heavy rain they will flood, when we were there it rained for about 36 hours without a break so big puddles and small ponds appeared. Less of a problem for tents but caravaners with awnings had problems. The toilet & shower facilites (you will need a supply of 20pence coins for the showers)etc are good , adequate in number are are kept very clean, good drying facilities. The owner works hard to maintain good standards around the site. The best thing about this site is the location, there is a great little beach and cove on site,very private and great for rock pooling, really safe for kids and wonderful views to Sky, Rum & Eig, the water is amazingly clear. Families with small children will have a great time here (our kids loved it). Would be fab for sea canoeing and snorkling (wet suits needed ). In fine weather this would knock spots of anything Cornwall or the Granite coast of Brittany have to offer. Great Site Great View Very good site, very close to the beach with slip way for boats. Onsite services are excellent, two toilet blocks, showers pot house etc. Unlike some sites at Arisaig, Gorten Sands has sufficient facilities for all site users.
