This link in a frame Category: East Lothian Thorntonloch offers 10 touring pitches all have access to electric hookups. There are 10 grass tent pitches without electric also on this site. The site gives access to a beautiful sandy beach closeby which can have a strong undertow. Spectacular coastal scenery and geology trail closeby. Local sea fishing is excellent both from shore or boat and the site is also popular with surfers. Close to Torness Nuclear Power Station.

Thorntonloch Caravan Park Visited in September 2011. This is a beautiful site with spectacular views from most of the touring pitches. The facilities were always very clean and the wardens very helpful. The site is mostly statics but all the caravan owners we met were very friendly and helpful and made the tourers very welcome. The beach was lovely and the dog had the time of her life playing in the waves. We are already planning another visit next year and can't wait. Thorntonloch Caravan Park This reason i give 5 stars all round is because of everything it offers,5 stars for service as we were camping and the toilets and showers(which residents have there own key:),washing up room,games room and washing machine and dryer are 10 seconds walk away.5 stars for kids facilities because they are welcomed although the games rooms consist of a pool table and cd player,all the kids on site met up here and fully enjoyed themselves and there is the magnificent beach.5 stars for location because the beach is less than 1 minute walk away and is gorgeous,high tide during the day you have wonderful golden sands and low tide in the evening you get the rockpools appearing and still have the golden sands.5 stars for value for money because we stayed 2 nights as a family of 4 with our dog(1st dog free) for 26 pounds plus 5 pounds deposit for the toilet/shower key.5 stars for onsite facilities because although you dont get mains on the tent pitches you are more than catered for with a washing up room with hot water,showers with hot water,which are lovely clean and free(the ladies showers also have a bath:) and a very low price for the washing machine and dryer there is also the games rooms for the kids which i mentioned earlier and the kids love it.If you are a family camping and want to go somewhere safe and sociable were the kids will enjoy themselves you cant go wrong.The wardens are friendly and welcoming and very informative and the local residenta we found to be every bit as nice as the wardens. Thorntonloch Caravan Park Camped for three nights during the week of 23rd june 2010. Great site ,warden was very friendly lady,gave us a nice welcome.Pitch was flat and sheltered.Facilities clean and well maintained.Site quiet and peaceful at night. Lovely sandy,clean beach-rock pools full of shrimp and crab. Good place for touring-we were never bored and really enjoyed our stay-would go back again and recommend this site for other campers. Thorntonloch Caravan Park This is such a great campsite. We wanted somewhere near by to try out our new tent but had not been to this site before. The pitch was great, very clean toilet shower block, in a great location next to a lovely beach and the wardens were very friendly and didn't mind that we took forever to take down our new tent. Thorntonloch Caravan Park Just want to point out that this site is open for Tourers each day from beginning of March to end of October, and not just weekends as stated above. Book to avoid disappointment as there are only a few touring pitches. Its a lovely quiet site, situated right on the beach. Excellent for kids as its away from the main road. Its on the John Muir walk way. Good cycling and dog walking. Surfers paradise. Thorntonloch Caravan Park As the Wardens of Thorntonloch Caravan Park for the past four years, Anne and Dougie would like to take this opportunity to thank all the residents, tourers and campers we have met over the years. As some of you will know, we have now retired but will still be taking an interest in the site. We did enjoy our time as wardens, made many nice friends over that period as we still have a static on the site we look forward to seeing those familiar faces in 2010. Thorntonloch Caravan Park We have just had 10 days at this campsite. The beach and surrounding countryside make it a great place for the kids, There is plenty of space to cycle in safety without going near a main road. I you like swimming but find the sea too cold Dunbar has an excellent swimming pool. But if you only want to relax it is the perfect campsite. We will definitely go back, it 's just a shame we live so far away or we would be there more often. Just a warning though if you take bikes on the roof rack, unload them before trying to enter the site there's a 2.1m barrier. Thorntonloch Caravan Park Just returned from a glorious weekend in Thortonloch. The site is great for everyone. We had 2 4yr olds and a 2yr old. They all loved the beach and getting back to basics - all that Mother nature has to offer. Lovely beach, great for flying kites and very clean. Wardens were v. friendly even loaning their grandchildrens toys for our girls. Other campers friendly and plenty of children to entertain each other. Shop no longer open, but Asda 5 mins away by car along A1. Thorntonloch Caravan Park I have been coming here for 9years and would not go anywhere else. I loved it when i was younger and my kids love it now. The kids always have a great time here, the beach,the walks, the rockpools, the walk to the lifeboat etc. It is the most relaxin place i have been to and the people and staff here are very friendly and helpful. I would never go anywhere else for my holidays. Thorntonloch Caravan Park we have visited the area on many previous occasions but this was the first time we used our own tourer. The site is in an amazing location within easy access for many attractions. Facilities on the site were immaculate at all times and the residents and staff very friendly and helpful. If your children need entertaining then this site may not be for you although there are somr facilities such as a play room and pool tables.The shop is limited but there are plenty more a short drive away. The joy of this site is its views and the wonderful beach. The surfers are an almost daily attraction. If you like walking and fressh air this is definately the place for you. Thorntonloch Caravan Park Have been to the site many times, expect to do more of the same, the location is superb, peace and quiet, with the lack of traffic noise is a real bonus. Only 1 criticism, the shop could carry essentials like milk bread etc, we poor campers without transport have a long way to go into town. Have stayed at parks all over Scotland, the only 1 I would recommend without hesitation would be this 1. If relaxation is what your after, look no further, this is the place for you. Thorntonloch Caravan Park Discovered this site by pure chance and have to say we loved it. A very quiet and friendly site with only a handful of touring pitches, majority is statics. Warden was friendly and helpful and the location right next to the beach is amazing. Toilet/shower blocks were immaculately clean as is the whole site. Not the place to go if you like the hussle and bussle of a more commercial site but for relaxation and taking it easy I cannot fault it. Thorntonloch Caravan Park Hi I have just logged on and have been reading some of the reviews. I will call it Discovered Thorntonloch by pure and very fortunate accident, we had been on a spur of the moment hook the trailer on and go weekends, you know the ones. Well I had poped into Thurston Moanor full, tried the site prior to Thontonloch on the opposite side of the power station, full but the kind gentleman gave me directions and when we arrived the gentleman who greeted us was very friendly indeed. Now I have one of these rather large Khyam tents he moved barrier pegs and we fitted it in no probs. We had a wonderfull weekend even had some friends from nearby Meadowmill come down to visit for a meal and a drink even they were so impressed with what is basicaly right on their doorstep. We will be back one day soon I hope can't wait till the weather picks up a little. would love to get the chance to buy a static here but as it is explained the list is long, but who knows maybe one day.ahhh Thorntonloch pure Escapeism and not a million miles away. Thorntonloch Caravan Park Nr Dunbar well what can i say..............thorntonloch is amazing not many places like it..how many of you can say you drive 40 mins out of a capital city and u are in the most beautiful, friendly laid back, fresh place? that is thorntonloch. a place to go, chill out, take long walks, have very random, interesting conversations with the 'locals' and just relax for a while. i first went to the site with my parents and brothers when i was about 6 and we all fell in love with it. we now have a static caravan and i have spent every school holiday (in season) there since then. it is one place that is safe for children to roam freely and never feel in danger....children facilities...well i dont know about you but a huge clean beach, a cycle path (also great for roller blading and skateboarding), yeh a few battered pool tables (which still work), fresh air...what else does a child need?????? computer games? amusement parks???? stay in the city for that! im now 24 and still love going back and doing the same things that i did then and no-one minds...... overall facilities.....we are not some big money making site, that has swimming pools, bar (we do have a barn!!!!), entertainment lounges etc......but do you really need that to chill out. you can get that anywhere.....we are different but a good different so yeh pop down, talk to people, breath in, breath out and relax enjoy....its thorntonloch :-) Type of accommodation: Unknown Comment by claire gallacher from currently in sri lanka volunteering with orphans Date: 15/10/2006 Was this review helpful for you? 14 of 17 found this review to be helpful. Thorntonloch Caravan Park Nr Dunbar i have been going to thorntonloch for years now, i'm 26 and use the site for camping and touring caravan. i love the site. it is so beautiful, the beach and view is stunning and it is all very clean. every year i go the beach changes from the tide, i could stay and watch it forever. i dont know alot of the regulars or staff by first name but they have always been friendly enough, although i dont think they're fond of my motorbike, teehee. there is always several children running around and sound like they have a great laugh and i know they have a games room for the kids which always sounds to be well used, and why would they want to spend all their time in doors when there is a gorgeous beach 30 seconds from the site. value for money, i feel that it is good value for money for using the tourer but a little over priced for camping considering there is no options as to an electric hook up for the tent and your not actually on site but in the car park. and that is possibly the only bad thing i feel about the site. all in all i feel that it is the best site in the area and have reccomended several of my friends to use the site and they loved it as much as i do and continue to go bak each year aswell. Thorntonloch Caravan Park Nr Dunbar I fail to understand how the beach at Thorntonloch Caravan Park can year after year be listed as one of the top 10 beaches in Scotland for cleanliness and water quality and published as such in the national press and consistantly attains an excellent standard of water quality in a report published from the results of samples of the water taken to comply with E U bathing water directives by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, the report being posted on the notice board at the caravan park, yet can be described as dangerous and unsuitable for children or pets. On the occasional exceptionally high tide, seaweed can, and is deposited on the beach and yes, it can smell, but it is washed away again on the next high tide. This is an act of nature and completely outwith the caravan park's control. I also fail to comprehend how, if the caravan park is as awful as portrayed by some writers to this site, we have many touring caravans who return time and time again throughout the season and we have a waiting list as long as your arm of persons desperate to own a static caravan at this site. Could it be that they appreciate what this unique site has to offer? The people ARE very friendly and make everyone welcome and yes we do have rules, which are in place to ensure the enjoyment of members and visitors alike, and to say the site is not suitable for children is a travesty as we constantly run events with the children soley in mind. We also have various activities over the season in which we raise money for local charities. We have lots of places to walk and cycle well away from vehicular traffic, sea fishing for the dads and a place to relax and unwind for the mums or shopping in nearby Dunbar, North Berwick and Berwickon Tweed if so desired. The jewel in our crown is the beach with its glorious sand and rock pools for the children and its all FREE. If it is a holiday camp type of holiday you require, this is not the place for you. Please pay us a visit and find out for yourself why our regular visitors return time and time again.
