Cannot wait until the school holidays to come around again,we have done the cottage, static caravan and our own caravan at Caths ad would recommend any of them.I know I put 5 stars for kids and people would argue there is nothing there, yes there is no computers or games arcades but there is the outdoors, sea, rock pools, walks a wee bit forest what kids should be doing playing outdoors. My grand children love it up there as they can play safely. It is a place to recharge your batteries and chill. The sunsets are to die for. Many people have been going there for years and years and God willing so will I.

Absolutely loved it here. WE rented the cottage & it was perfect & had everything we needed. This siter was recommended & we loved everythign about the site, the views & the area. We only went for a week at the end of may but we were so lucky with the weather, 32 degrres & sunny. 8 other family & friends were up there at the same time in statics & tents & everyone loved it. WE have already booked up for two weeks this year, can't wait to go back. The cottage is brilliant as I am disabled & it has a shower cubicle, high settees, a ramp to the door, two bedrooms, heating & a fully fitted kitchen with washing machine etc, we found it absolutely ideal.

been coming here since 1996 and then it was the best campsite i had ever been to . it was so wild and deserted . you could park anywhere at any time . used to be £5 per night . then they put the new road in and like all upgrading it spoilt the place as it used to take some real effort to get there but now its just a quick cruise from fort william . still very nice area but too many people but thats how it goes i suppose. hopfully when fuel is £15 a gallon it will return to its former self

Was disappointed that we could only have one week this year not nearly long enough to recharge the batteries. We really pleased to meet up with the usual people who really appreciate the place for what it is,not a Butlins or a Haven site but a heavenly site.

We stayed here the Mayday weekend 2011 and it was just perfect. Sunshine, blue seas and white sands. We like it a little wild and that's what you get here. On arrival, the office was closed but there was a friendly notice saying to just find a pitch and the money would be collected in the morning. We got a wonderful pitch with hookup overlooking the beach. An update from previous comments, there was a price list (albeit a 2010 one) in the window of the office and also on the wall of the dishwashing area. We were charged £15 per night for a caravan with porch awning, electric hookup and 2 adults + 2 kids. A fantastic price we thought. According to the price list we should have been charged another £4. The toilets were fine. Not fancy but perfectly adequate and had plenty loo roll. The dishwashing facilities were in with the one washing machine and dryer. My only slight criticism was that the water was only tepid so greasy dishes needed a good scrub. We had a fabulous time here, so safe for the kids and working through a good book. Try out the Rhu Cafe in Arisaig village for nice food and there is also a well stocked Co-op there too.

To me...one of the most beautiful places in Scotland, especialy if the weather is kind. Basic, true, but what more do you need. Owner Cathy is a gem and if you want a long lie she will take payment up front...now there's a novelty in this day & age. I feared the new road was going to make this place too accessable, so far that has not happened, and long may that continue...HAPPY DAZE ;O) wiff me m8 Drew.

VERY BASIC - showers cost extra but I wouldnt change much about the place. Pretty wild - just as we like it! Dont come here expecting the easy life - luxury it aint! Previous review was correct - price seems a little bit steep for what you get. PS. Bring your own toilet roll!

Went to Silversands this May half term (2009) as chosen campsite full. I was not disappointed. I was lucky to turn up at just the right moment - some campers had just left, leaving me the perfect spot, a stones throw from the rocks and sea. If you have a tent then you are able to camp in the (not completely flat) areas between the rocks by the cottage, by far the best spots. The views are spactacular and if you are lucky you can pitch in such a way so as not to be able to see other tents etc - my idea of heaven!! As previous reviews have stated the facilities are perhaps not brilliant in the way of showers, but if you are not fussy when (or if!) you shower then it's fine. My only critisism would be the fact that the fees seem to vary, alot!! A friend camped there 2 weeks prior to me and paid £12/night for a small camper, tent and 2 adults and electric hookup. I however paid £8/night for just myself in, what I was told, was rather a large tent. It is infact a 3 man tent which is by no means big compared to other tents for 3 or so, on site. A couple next to me paid £14 for their tent, with no electric hook up!! Having listened at 'fee' collection times, it appears that there were alot of 'large tents' for the number of occupants. There are no prices posted anywhere so be warned you could be charged anything from £5 per person per night upwards. This however really is my only critisism as the site is in a beautiful location, has amazing views and the sunsets are 'to die for' and if you get great weather, as I did, then the swimming (without a wetsuit, unlike others!) is gorgeous in the crystal clear water, where you can still see the sand no matter how far out you are. So please read this and just dream about the place, we don't want anyone else to go!!!

Some very mixed reviews on the Silver Sands but it depends what you are looking for. If you want an exciting camping ground with lots of swings, a cabaret act, poolside bar and dance music thumping out till the early hours this probably isn't for you. The Silver sands is a special place in an amazingly beautiful part of the west coast. I remember visiting here nefore there were any showers or hot water and it's one of the fondest memories i have of my childhood. The fact you can now pay £1 to have a hot shower is a luxury to me. This is a very safe site and an amazing place for kids. When the tide is out there is miles of beach to play on and rocks to explore. The minute you see this site in the sun for the first time you'll be hooked. This site is not for people who want all the comforts of home but if you want a stunning location and a bit of rest and peace then it's spot on. Leave your phone at home and bring a book.

The campsite is in a great location. Beautiful beach, stunning views and amazing sunsets and as it was quite windy when we were there it meant no midges!! We met lots of lovely people who go year after year. But what really lets the place down is the toilet and washing block. On the outside the area to empty the chemical toilet waste is RIGHT next to the two sinks for washing your dishes and the water was only luke warm. The toilet and shower block are extremely basic - no toilet paper and lukewarm water again. The one shower for the entire site was broken when I was there. Oh and it costs you a £1 for the privilege. Needles to say we won't be using it again which is a pity as it is a lovely part of the world

Fantastic scenery and lovely beaches around the site. Great for our 2 3/4 year old! You camp wherever you can find a space and money is collected each morning £4 each per night (Aug 2007). The facilities are very basic (take your own loo roll) and a bit tatty and just one shower for the ladies and one for the fellas but at least they are kept clean. Lots of other beaches, woodland walks etc to do in the area. We had mixed weather but it's worth the risk and all the travelling to stay somewhere so beautiful.

We stumbled across this site simply because it was displayed on an OS map. You can simply find a pitch and settle in, the owner will call for the very reasonable fee in the evening or morning. The real beauty of this site though is that it has the most glorious beach front location, and if you are lucky you can get a beach front pitch too. The view, if not the weather, could be Caribbean, stunning.

Can't beat this site for the scenery Go back year after year and love it. The site is basic but is kept very clean by Cathy the very friendly owner. It's like home from home, as each year it seems to be the same people who we meet up with. The price is very reasonable and you only pay a day at a time to Cathy who collects the money each morning. Can't wait to go back this year.

Brilliant Campsite
Perfect place to get away from the daily routine of normal living. Beautiful scenery, clear water, very friendly owner, and right on the beach. The kids love the place, snorkeling in the warm bay, and playing with the friends they meet year after year. Fires and barbecues on the beach most night. Cathy the owner of the site is the friendliest woman you could ever meet, making the stay on her site very memorable indeed. Reasonably priced compared to others in the area. The toilets are always clean and tidy. The site also has a nine hole golf course on the doorstep.
