This link in a frame Category: Fort William and Lochaber To comply with Scottish Outdoor Access Code, camping access rights are extending to wild camping provided camping is lightweight, done in small numbers and only for two or three nights in any one place. Avoid any problems arising for local people, especially farmers and crofters, by not camping in enclosed fields of crops or farm animals and by keeping well away from buildings, roads or historic structures. All litter, pollution and traces of the tent pitch including open fire must be removed. Wild camping is free but no amenities are provided.

Isle of Eigg Wild Camping We stayed one night on this site. It seemed to double as the local footie pitch and grazing for a large bull and his herd of cows. It is quite a walk from the Community Centre near the Pier, which has the loos and showers, and involves paddling through a stream which was fortunately quite low. There are wonderful views across to the mountains of the mainland. We were woken at about 5 am by a group of American photographers down on the beach looking for things to take pictures of. We staggered out of the tent and made some coffee, and had our pictures taken! The community centre is an active hub and has a useful shop as well as bar and tea shop. Isle of Eigg Wild Camping June 2006. There is a designated east facing wild camp AREA for about 10 tents by the shore 1km north of the pier. You are welcome to use showers and toilets by the licensed community cafe and shop. Works well, especially with the very helpful staff at the cafe. Bike hire available.
