Balgair Castle Holiday park
Lovely location but not very peaceful. Barking dogs all around, noisy groups of families/friends keeping others awake. It seems like there is no security on site to monitor this. Pool area lovely, bistro expensive for families although pleanty choice. Playpark full of deep holes and casing lots of puddles. No shop on site, so you need to go to local sports centre for a very limited choice, or 6 miles into Kippen for a spar shop.

Went for 2 nights on the recomendation of friends and loved it so much we have purchased a static there. Had a meal in the club house and it was lovely, drinks were reasonably priced. Had a dip in the pool, heated? Brrrr lol Cant wait till the new season starts and we spend lots of time there surrounded by beautiful scenery.

This was our first vist to balgair, on the plus side the kids loved the pool and park, on the other hand having been to many other sites i felt the toilets were dirty and run down with no locks or loo roll a lot of the time. As for the rubbish facility you need to work on this guys as all bins on site were overflowing leaving campers no choice but to dump rubbish at the side of the bin, also if you are allocated a pool side pitch make sure you take a long extension for electric hook up as only one point between 4 pitches

Overall I would say that this campsite was value for money however I am not sure that I would return. The site is fairly clean and well kept. It consists mainly of holiday homes and caravans with some areas for pitching tents. There is a club house that sells meals but to be honest we didn't use it as we prefer to cook ourselves while camping. Other than that there where no shops or facilities to purchase milk etc. It would be helpful if there was a shop as the nearest village was quite some distance away. There was however great facilities for the children in the swimming pool that was available, cold but clean, and also a well presented and accessible play area. The site had plenty of open and safe play space for the children to run around freely, important when you camp with six of them. The toilet facilities appeared to be fairly new but where inadequate as there where only three female showers for the whole site. So queueing was inevitable. One of the main reasons why I don't plan to return is that the park is very undermanned. We had a big problem with the noise at night. The tents next to us where very noisy until well into the night, 1.30am, playing music and drinking. This wasn't checked and very unreasonable when we where trying to get our own children to sleep. The other big downside was the rubbish bins. Not only where they few and far between but they where unhygienic in that they where grossly overflowing. Having said all this the location is very good if you want to visit any of the attractions that Stirling has to offer. The children also had a very good time despite being tired.

Arrived as the first tent of the season, cost £15 per night. Was given map of site & informed to pitch near the 'ruins'. There is a clubhouse serving food & drink if needed, didn't use so cant comment. Toilets there clean & also shower/toilet block available when they close, clean too. There was an outdoor swimming pool but wasn't filled. Also a putting green but again not open at present. Overall a pleasant stay & nice & quiet at nightime.

Nice tidy site in picturesque location nestled between the Fintry and Campsie hills. Cosy bar/restaurant with entertainment and beer garden. small outdoor pool but not heated so can only use in hot weather. Adjacent shallow river with free fishing which is safe for young children to paddle in. Tidy spacious touring pitches and clean toilet and shower facilities. Childrens palyground and football pitch. Recommended.
