The Campsite at Port Mor is available from the beginning of February until the end of Novemeber, the Campsite is closed through the months of December and January. We accept all tents, camper vans and caravans. We also have 10 electric hookups available at an extra cost of £3 per night. The Centre itself has a wide range of facilities for campers such as toilets (including disabled toilets/showers), showers, laundry, water, a cafe and Internet access. The Port Mor Centre is located close to Port Charlotte, where the Port Charlotte Hotel and the Lochindaal Hotel are located. Both hotels feature a bar and serve meals made with local produce. Amenities also include a Post Office with a shop, a Wildlife Centre and the Museum of Islay Life, all of which are an easy 10 minutes walk from the campsite. There is also a Medical Centre in the village if required. There is also a large playpark for children which is open to the public at no cost. 10 electric hook-up with hard standing and 50 tent pitches.

Our view: A fantastic new campsite/resource on Islay. Short walk to the village and an ideal location to explore the island from. Good children s play area and short dog walks to the shore where there are also picnic tables. The staff are very helpful.

stayed at this campsite in 2008. great campsite, very clean especially the showers. warden was very helpful and the onsite cafe was very good. didn't pay much attention to kids facilities as we don't have kids. the only downside was the day we arrived it was very windy and getting our new large tent up proved to be a bit difficult. the rest of our stay though the weather was great and there were some very nice sunrises/sunsets. good location for seeing the rest of the island. would use this site again!

Campervanned in October when the wind was blowing sideways. We managed to shelter at the side of the centre. Extremely friendly and helpful staff who took a pride in their work and workplace. Very clean kitchen/toilet/shower area. Good cafe food/snacks/coffee - recommended

We camped at Port Mor in July/August 2007. Found the site excellent. James, who runs the site, is very helpful. Clean, very tidy, excellent restaurant/coffeeshop. Beautiful views, though we had four out of twelve days of rain! Would not hesitate to go back! Midges - as soon as wind dropped but we coped. Port Charlotte village had good villageshop with fresh bread most days. Museum is very good for wet days.

So glad to see that our local campsite is listed and has a good review - I don't think that visitors will be disappointed, it's a beautiful spot with great views and many beautiful beaches, walks and distilleries to visit. The play area for the children is magnificent and good food and ceilidhs can be found nearby. No - I don't have any connections with the site but am so please we have such a facility on Islay for people who visit our beautiful island.

We stayed on this site for 3 nights at the end of October 2007. James who looks after the 'complex' could not have been more friendly/helpful. He obviously takes great pride in looking after the site and the toilets/showers etc were spotless. The site is rather exposed and after some very heavy rain became waterlogged athough there is plenty of hard standing in the car park. If extra money can be raised it is hoped that electric hook-ups can be installed. If this takes place the site will in our opinion become one of the best 'all-year' sites in the West of Scotland. The site is well placed for visiting many of the 'wonderful birding sites' for which Islay is well known and the 2 hotels in Port Charlotte are 15mins walk away
