Muasdale Holiday Park
Stayed for week, Sept 2012 - location superb directly facing the Atlantic from a sandy beach (but iffy in bad weather). Toilets/showers are immaculately kept. Pitches are tight even if not using an awning but parking behind the caravan. 3 network broadband and T-Mobile/Orange signal strength good.

Best site by far. Cleanliness better than some 5 star hotels, service impeccable, views from the site are a dream come true and the peaceful setting makes you feel like you are in another world. We will be back. Thank you. I have marked 5 stars for the facilites for kids as there is the never ending beach for children to enjoy, however I personally would not recommend this site for families. Very quiet and this is partly what makes the site so special.

We had 2 weeks here in June. This is a fantastic, small site. The location is stunning, right on the beach, and I mean right on the beach about a metre away from it. Stunning views over Gigha, Islay and Jura, you can't beat have a glass of single Jura malt watching the sunset over the paps of Jura, idyllic. The facilities were spotless with free hot showers. The owners, Adrian and Allison, very friendly and helpful. Not really any facilities for children, apart from the great beach mere footsteps away. Kintyre is beautiful, great views, great wildlife (we saw Golden eagles. This was the best caravan holiday I have had!

Hiya, many thanks for your great review, glad you have a good time. Weather would have been fabulous in June. All the best Alison & Adrian.

Brilliant small site with all the facilities you need, especially if like us you are wanting to get away from it all. Only small number of pitches which we liked, and usual recycling facilities that have come to expect from sites these days. Shower block and area for washing dishes was spotless and loads of hot water. Staff friendly and liked the red arrow flyover they organised!!! Pitch was one foot from beach which was clean and on the whole didn't have much midges. Road does split the site and was slightly worried about noise from traffic but the fresh air must have knocked us out as we never heard any.

Many thanks for your review, glad you enjoyed your stay - the fly past was wonderful, pity they weren't a bit nearer for my camera.

We would recommend Muasdale as a simple but beautiful campsite on the edge of the atlantic ocean (with winds to match!). Not much in the way of formal facilities for children but the beach was perfect and our four children had a fabulous time exploring and flying their kite.

Glad you enjoyed your stay, those winds were interesting !! More like winter winds than summer winds, glad it didn't spoil your stay.

We stayed here for 4 nights in July. The site is very small compared to other and the pitches are right at the beach (6 steps from tent to beach - ideal) You could sit and watch the seals just offshore swimming or sittin gon the rocks, you could also just watch the kids play on the beach and they would never be out of your sight. Nice clean beach at the site, bleu watre and shallow. A couple of 100 yeards further along there was what looked like sewage/washing machine waste flowing across the rocks. The toilet block wa spotless, but needed upgrading. I think was going to be happening next year. A power shower with no timer was a bonus. There was no soap or any means to dry your hands in which I though was strange. My biggert gripe was that no where was it mentioned that the Main A road to Campbeltown runs right through the middle of the site. It was meant to be a 40 limit but as evening wore on the speeds got higher. Not one if your kids tend to wander.

My wife and I have stayed at this site for several years, and have found it very peacful and relaxing. we are both disabled and have found that the help and service of the owners second to none. the site and caravans are very well maintained. there is a very good resturant just up the hill within a couple of milesit is overlooking the paps of Jura and the surrounding Islands. I personaly recomend the site for peace and quite, we live in North Wales's Largest holiday park areas and are glad to get away from the maddening crowds.

What a wonderful site! Lovely to be able to let our 5 year old play on the wonderful beach, knowing that we could keep an eye on her from the pitch. Glorious sunsets! Nice facilities, with clean and functional shower block on the touring site and more facilities over the road on the static site.

We stayed at Muasdale in our tourer last July, for 2 weeks, and will certainly return to this idyllic spot. Ionly put one star for facilities for children, but it all depends on what your children are looking for. If they want playgrounds and entertainment then they will be disappointed, but if they are like my grandchildren they`ll be in 7th heaven at the proximity to the beach and sea. There is occasionally a bit of a pong in the air, but you get used to it, it`s caused by seaweed lying on the shore reacting to the sun. The beach is a lovely strip of sand, what I call a "natural" beach, with seaweed and driftwood and pebbles. The toilet/shower block isn`t fancy, but it`s clean and adequate, and it`s also security coded for access. We saw dolphins out in the bay one morning, it caused great excitement. In the afternoon we took a very enjoyable ferry ride to Gigha, and saw the dolphins again further out in the bay, wonderful! Tarbert and Campbeltown are both good places to shop and dine out, although Tarbert does only have a few shops. But if you wanted to dine a bit nearer to the site, there is a nice friendly pub at Tayinloan just 3-4 miles down the road, and their food is great, and very reasonably priced.

First visit 2005
Pleasant small site with fairly level pitches, small but good toilet facilities with unrestricted hot water usage which is very helpful when tenting. Magnificent sunsets. Nice beach walks. Seals haul up on the rocks nearby.
