Spotless showers, with free and constant hot water. Common room with dishwashing, microwave, TV and multifuel stove. Laundrette. Visit our website www.shielingholidays.co.uk (just click the Weblink above) for details of our self catering Shieling tents and hostel beds, email booking facility, and how to find us. Stroll to ferry, pub, bistro, swimming pool and buses to Iona (for Staffa) and Tobermory. The perfect base for all Mull. Our view: On the coast near to ferry point of Craignure. Probably has the best facilities of the campsites on Mull with dry common room for campers with stoves and microwave. Good walks from site.

Shieling Holidays
Visit Mull every year for the wildlife & stay at the Shieling Holidays campsite for some of the time. I have never found reason for complaint or dissatisfaction with this campsite. Clean facilities & friendly staff. A walk along the shoreline in the evening adds to the magic of this place. Last visited April 2013.

wonderful site with fantastic views from the door of your tent .Astro turf for pitches a genius idea keeping us dry and comfortable and the field immaculate.great facilities too-and the site is very sheltered tucked in there at the side of the loch.Altogether a very high standard site and fine example to follow of how a site should be.

We stayed here for one night mid September. It's a great place for getting off the ferry (5 mins walk away) and using as a base to move on from. The site has fantastic washing/showering facilities, and a communal room with microwave, freezer and sofas! Staff were very friendly and helpful and even repaired one of our rucksacks. Fantastic views of the sea and mountains and not a midge in sight! The Mull railway is a couple of minutes walk around the corner, and the Craignure Inn 5 mins walk, serving food till 9 in the evening. Worthy of a place in Scotland's Cool Camping book. A very pleaseurable stay, thanks!

Super location. Very handy for shops (there's a good Spar within 15 mins) and pub grub (10 mins). We were parked near the entrance and had great views of the bay and ferry jetty. We took the Corran, Lochaline-Fishnish ferries rather than Oban-Craignure as this is about one third of the cost, though it does entail about 40 extra miles driving.

Did feel that this site was a little expensive. Location good for those recovering from a long journey. Facilities excellant. However kids weren't impressed about having a bath in brown water.Goes with the territory.

What a fab site! This is a very friendly well run site with amazing views over the water. I don't know who thought up the idea for astroturf pitches, but they were fantastic! I've read reviews here about how hard it was to put pegs in - take a mallet! Even if you don't want to carry one, reception will give you one! The site was nice and clean and well run. The toilets/showers are housed in a Shieling (big BIG plastic tent), they were different, but clean and hot! Highly recommended!

If Disney made a campsite this would be it
We found this campsite almost by accident but it turned out to be fantastic. Wonderful welcome, and not one blade of grass out of place - and beautifully clean. We are COMPLETE NOVICES but found pitching the tent on astroturf really easy. The views are breathtaking and although we intended to tour we loved the site so much that after 2 nights camping we MOVED INTO A SHIELING. Now thats what I call camping - it was fantastic. Own shower and toilet, constant hot water, electricity - I never knew camping could be like this. We are now converted and will definately be visiting again. A little piece of heaven.

Brilliant site with fantastic views from top field.Children well catered for with park sandpit and swing all closeby.Absence of cars onsite makes this site very child friendly.Free access to common room and tv which was very handy to keep updated with the British Open.Camp fire area is a great idea as people given opportunity to socialise over looking the stunning views and fire helps keep the midgies away.

Great facilites, toilets and showers in a sheiling nice and clean, common room sheiling great for avioding the midges, the astroturf was great like camping on a carpet, but make sure you bring a mallet. We asked for a pitch at the top following previos the previos reviews, good views, saw the pitches at the entrance don't fancy them! overall good facilities but you do pay for them!

We visited this campiste in 2006 and what a site!!! We are regular campers and this is by far the best site that we have ever been to. It is fantastic....facilities, staff, location....I could go on and on......the only downfall is the price of the ferry but that isn't the campsite's fault...give it a go you won't be disapointed.

A truly awful experience ! We had prebooked to avoid disappointment but to our horror we were expected to pitch our 6 berth family tent on a tiny pitch of astroturf sandwiched between a toilet, a motorhome and the main entrance road through the site. This was clearly unsafe for our 4 and 6 year old as well as being a very unpleasant place to holiday for a week, but the staff would not budge and we were forced to find an alternative campsite and lose our hefty ?20 deposit. This despite the allocated pitch being too small for our tent.If booking here I would advise you to ask specifically for the top field which looked lovely or you too could end up in the car park area with no space to sit out and enjoy the magnificent views.

Just brilliant. Also if you want a taste of camping without too much hardship you can try a Shieling tent here - they didnt seem to be too expensive. Only problem is they have electric light so can stay up later than us campers !

Great Site well run
It is hard to find a better run site. Facilities very clean and include family and disabled toilets, games room, indoor area for cooking including microwave and free freezer for ice packs. Water pressure a bit low at peak times. Great views over Sound of Mull with otters on the shore, porpoises in the sea and eagles overhead. Astroturf piches are different but surprisingly good (mallet/hammer is required to get pegs in). No cars on site except on arrival/departure which makes for a great site for children. Try to get a pitch up the hill if possible for views etc.

Astroturf Horror!
Yes its all great as everyone has described. However, how anyone manages to get their tent pegs through the astroturf is beyond me. The holes in my hands were bigger then the ones I made in the ground. Makes me laugh now but at the time I was in pain! I pitched off to the side into the real ground in the end. And no I didn't have a mallet, I was travelling on my own by bike so don't pack that sort of thing. Otherwise it is a great site with a lovely shoreline to explore and the owners were very helpful with information for my onward journey.

This site is great for exploring mull. Its close to the ferry there is a shop nearby as well as a pub that serves food. It can be difficult sometimes to get your tent pegs to stay in the astroturf but you can get round this by pitching it on the edge so that you are hammering the peg into the grass instead of the astroturf. It does make for a slightly warmer night with the astroturf under you. The facilities are first class however if you are very shy the moving toilet and shower walls are a bit of a worry. (They are made of some kind of strong seriously heavy duty type canvas.) The owner is very friendly and helpful and will provide you with tourist information as well. He also speaks french fluently. Cars are not allowed on the camping area except to unload your tent and things this is to protect any children who are playing.

We stayed here for 3 nights in very bad weather but the facilities were so good the waether didn't matter. Excellent pitches with lots of space, clean showers with unlimited free hot water and an excellent common room area with microwave, tv etc which made for a good escape from the rain and the midgies. Not much in Craignure but it is a reasonable distance froml the attractions on the island.Views are superb and you can watch the ferries coming and going from your pitch!

Generally a good site with great views
When we arrived Tents were being put onto what looked like a late arrivals area opposite the site office, avoid being put there. Best tent pitches are on the top area and all pitches have well drained astro turf covering (its like camping on a carpet).Great views across the bay to the mainland and a great pub a short distance from site. Toilet & shower facilities rather to few for the numbers using the site and when buisy the cleaning of these facilities could be better. Good facility for drying cloths (big open tent like structure), washing machine cold wash only. Would go back as its a great base to explore Mull.

Simply wonderful!
We have stayed at this campsite a couple of times and cannot recommend it enough. The couple who run the site are SO friendly and helpful. The situation is perfect. Nothing better than coming out of your tent first thing in the morning and seeing the Ben Nevis range across the water. It is slightly expensive for a tent, but well worth it! Go to Mull! Stay here! We'll definitely be back.
